Warning! This article contains spoilers for Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 6.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 6 includes a Satyr character named Augustus who is also a resident of the Lotus Hotel and Casino. The latest episode of Percy Jackson season 1 sees the characters of Percy, Annabeth, and Grover reaching Las Vegas to seek out Hermes, the Greek god of travelers and messengers. Ares promised the trio that Hermes would be able to help them reach Los Angeles and thus the Underworld, ushering in a significant role for another of Percy Jackson‘s Greek gods in episode 6.

The book changes to the Percy Jackson TV show thus far have been evident, proving that the Disney+ adaptation is not afraid to make changes where necessary. Through the inclusion of Hermes in the Lotus Hotel and Casino, another of these book changes is found. However, that is not the only alteration to the book story found in Percy Jackson episode 6 with another coming in the form of Augustus, a Satyr character who Grover befriends in the Las Vegas hotel.

More detail is given as to why no Searcher has ever returned from their quest for Pan.

The appearance of Augustus in Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 6 will be a mystery to many as he is not found in the original book on which season 1 is based. In Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief, Grover does not befriend anyone else when staying in the Lotus Hotel and Casino, meaning Augustus is an entirely new character. In Percy Jackson episode 6, Augustus is a Satyr whom Grover knows and recognizes from Camp Half-Blood. According to Grover, Augustus is a Searcher just as Grover’s uncle Ferdinand was.

In Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 4, it was established that Searchers are the older Satyrs who are granted a Searcher license. After successfully carrying out their tasks as Protectors, as Grover is to Percy, Satyrs are dubbed Searchers who set off into the world to find the lost god of the wild, Pan. It was also revealed in Percy Jackson episode 4 that no other Satyrs have ever returned from their quest to find Pan. One of the reasons for this seems to be confirmed as the Lotus Hotel and Casino, with Augustus being trapped there by the magic of the Lotus Eaters.

How Long Augustus Has Been Trapped In The Lotus Casino

Some hints are given as clues to how long Augustus has been in Las Vegas.

Before exploring how long Augustus has been trapped before Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 6, it is worth exploring why he is trapped at all. In Percy Jackson episode 6, Grover explains that the Lotus Hotel and Casino is the new lair of the Lotus Eaters, a group of people from Greek mythology who kept visitors on their island by feeding them Lotus flowers. The Lotus flowers kept anyone who consumed them in a perpetual state of ignorant bliss, forcing them to lose all personal choice, desire, urgency, and their memories.

This explains why Augustus was in the Lotus Hotel and Casino and could not remember anything at first. Augustus has presumably been subject to the Lotus Eater’s magic for decades based on the clues provided in the episode. For one, Augustus was the one who inspired Grover’s uncle Ferdinand to set out on his own quest. Also, Augustus is wearing clothes that look from earlier eras like the 1980s or 1990s. This means that it can be deduced Augustus has been missing for at least two decades which would mean he knew Grover, as the latter is 24, and Ferdinand before he left for his own Searcher quest.

Just like Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 4, episode 6 continued to foreshadow the importance of Pan to Grover’s character. Grover has already made it clear that he wishes to become a Searcher himself in the future. Percy Jackson episode 6 furthers this desire through Grover’s interactions with Augustus. However, other aspects of Grover’s time in the Lotus Hotel and Casino go even further to set up the huge quest that the Satyr will undertake in future seasons of Percy Jackson and the Olympians should they be confirmed.

When Annabeth and Percy find Grover, the Satyr is playing a virtual reality game in the Lotus Hotel and Casino that Augustus led him to. This video game included Grover finding Pan with the former saying how real it felt. This sets up Grover’s ultimate quest in that he eventually is the Satyr who finds Pan. This occurs in the fourth book meaning it will likely not come until the fourth season of the show. However, the second and third books include major hints to Grover’s Searcher quest meaning Percy Jackson and the Olympians episode 6’s teases are smartly placed to tease what is coming for the lovable Satyr.
