Orange Is The New Black is full of incredibly exciting characters and wild personalities, which is what made the show so entertaining. There was a great mix of people, as there is within prisons in real life, and it really helped to make the show have a fantastic energy and vibe.
Everyone can relate to someone within OITNB, minus the crimes that they committed, and one way of doing that is by looking at the zodiac traits many of the characters have. So, within this list, we will reveal which character from the show you’re most like, purely based off those zodiac characteristics.
Aries: Poussey Washington
Poussey Washington was one of the most vibrant and fun characters within the show. She was kind, intelligent, and incredibly bubbly, always looking to bring the best out of people to grow people up rather than cause more problems.
She would very much be an Aries, as people with this zodiac sign are notorious for being confident and cheerful people. Despite her tough circumstances, Poussey is exactly that and really works hard to cheer up her inmates.
Taurus: Marisol Gonzales/Maritza Ramos
This pair can be lumped together since they spend nearly all of their time as a duo within the Litchfield prison. They are an excellent duo who bring the best out of each other with comedy and their love for trying to look as perfect as possible.
It is that love of beauty and that makes them perfect Taurus’, as they are well-known for being perfectionists. They are also dark horses within the world, often having big success despite people not expecting much from them, which is certainly the case from this duo.
Gemini: Red
While her real name is Galina Reznikov, everyone knows this inmate best as Red. She is one of the gang leaders within the prison, and someone who often works as the head chef within the system. The big reasons he is able to stay in charge is the fact she is so adaptable.
No matter what the situation is, Red is always able to adapt and overcome in order to stay on top of the mountain. This is something that Gemini’s are well-known for being able to do, whilst also being outgoing and smart individuals, which Red certainly is.
Cancer: Lorna Morello
Lorna Morello is one of the nicest characters at times within Orange Is The New Black, but she can also flip in her behavior without many signs. The reason for this is revealed late on in the show, where it becomes clear that she has mental health problems.
However, this is why she would likely be a Cancer zodiac. People in this zodiac are known for being loyal and incredibly protective, which she certainly is with her friends and her baby. Yet she is also very sensitive at times, with people having to be very careful around Morello.
Leo: Tasha ‘Taystee’ Jefferson
Tasha Jefferson is one of the lead roles within the show and is a character that fans absolutely loved. The main reason for that is how much energy she brings to the series. Even during many of her difficult times, she showed bravery and courage in order to overcome her life sentence, turning it into a positive.
Leo’s are notorious for having really warm personalities, and while ‘Taystee’ is someone not to be messed with, she is also incredibly kind to those who don’t cross her. She is strong-willed and intelligent, and she gets put through a real rollercoaster during the show, but ends up in a strong place.
Virgo: Piper Chapman
While Tasha Jefferson is probably the most popular character from the series, Piper Chapman is technically the lead. She is someone who does have some serious mood swings and does easily get on the wrong side of others, but the main reason for that is because of her creativity in constantly trying to push ideas to stay on top of the situation.
Piper likes to be in charge and think that she runs the prison, and that is something that takes a lot of hard work. That is a big trait of Virgos, alongside being critical of others, being stubborn and overthinking, all of which Piper has certainly showcased.
Libra: Joe Caputo
Technically, all the prison staff should have Libra traits simply because Libra’s typically don’t like conflict and try to resolve issues. However, throughout Orange Is The New Black the prison guards prove themselves to be just as bad as the inmates at times.
However, Joe Caputo is different and actually tries to help the inmates throughout the show. Whether it’s helping out with the fights or creating schemes to try and improve the lives of the inmates, he gets emotionally invested in the inmates and always wants to make things as peaceful as possible.
Scorpio: Gloria Mendoza
Gloria Mendoza is one of the original characters of the series and someone who the other inmates didn’t want to get on the wrong side of. That’s because she knew how to hurt people, either herself or by getting others to do it, and that tough-minded attitude is something that Scorpios are known for.
However, while Mendoza can be dangerous, she is also incredibly kind and caring. For those she is close with, Mendoza would do anything for because she is so loyal and helpful, which is why she’s so popular within the prison.
Sagittarius: Nicky Nichols
Much like Mendoza, Nicky Nichols is another incredibly popular member of the prison who does her best to get along with people. She isn’t afraid of sharing her opinion and goes through a tough bout with drug addiction, but once she gets clean, Nicky really becomes a leader.
Her independent free spirit is something that adds a lot of joy to her character, and it is also why she is a Sagittarius. They are known for being both independent and open-minded, while also being brutally honest.
Capricorn: Dayanara Diaz
While she starts off fairly innocent, Dayanara Diaz ends up becoming the top dog within the prison who people are incredibly scared of. One of the main reasons is because of her attitude, which falls in line with a Capricorn, as they tend to be amongst the most serious of people.
Capricorn’s aren’t just all about being serious though, as they are also known to be great leaders, which she also shows. Even though Diaz mainly stays in control through bullying, her group all adore her and follow along whatever she wants.
Aquarius: Alex Vause
Alex Vause is Piper Chapman’s major love interest and because of that, she is instantly thrust into the main storylines throughout the series. She can be both very happy and incredibly serious, with very little in-between period, often struggling to deal with the situation she is in.
Alex often finds herself in the middle of some very serious situations, but normally manages to avoid major punishments purely because of how smart she is. Alex is able to smuggle drugs and phones and work the system with her intelligence, and Aquarius’ are known for being particularly clever.
Pisces: Suzanne ‘Crazy Eyes’ Warren
Early on in the show, Suzanne was seen as a bit of a loose cannon and was someone who often got picked on within the prison. However, her kind and caring spirit eventually won over most people, even though her mental health issues did mean that she could lash out at any moment.
However, a Pisces typically tends to be creative, and that is something that Suzanne certainly is as she showcases through her writing work. But, she is equally overly emotional, having real extremes of both happiness and anger throughout the show.
