Which Dickinson Character Is Your Soulmate, Based On Your Zodiac Sign?

Which Dickinson Character Is Your Soulmate, Based On Your Zodiac Sign?

The stellar Apple TV+ original series Dickinson is one that is filled with palpable romance and myriad soulful relationships between characters. It has poetry, comedians playing famous writers, anachronistic music, and – most of all – some of the best romances currently functioning on television. However, even those not in a committed relationship on Dickinson make for highly desirable soulmates.

Considering how disparate some of the characters are, though, finding out which one is a good match for Dickinson fans can be determined through the stars. The only thing that might reveal more about the tendencies, traits, and preferences of people are the astrological zodiac signs.

Aries: George

Which Dickinson Character Is Your Soulmate, Based On Your Zodiac Sign?

Few characters on Dickinson were as over-eager at every turn as George Gould (Samuel Farnsworth). In his mind for much of the first season, his soulmate is Emily Dickinson (Hailee Steinfeld). Of course, this did not come to pass.

However, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a soulmate out there for George. In all likelihood, his best match is an Aries, as this would be someone who could match his puppy dog tendencies. The Aries sign is known for its quickly head-over-heels persona, and George will match up with it brilliantly.

Taurus: Emily Norcross

Emily Norcross Dickinson (Jane Krakowski), as the show’s matriarch, is a woman who finds pleasure (and heartbreak) in the simple things in life. As with many Krakowski characters, she also has the proclivity for flightiness.

Due to this, her best soulmate would be someone reliable who could help keep her more grounded, like Edward (Toby Huss) does. Tauruses are most commonly associated with stubborn, dependable traits that would be well-suited for Emily Sr.

Gemini: Sue

To be the soulmate of Sue (Ella Hunt) and not be Emily Dickinson is, perhaps, a fool’s errand. However, the zodiac sign with the best chance of hanging with Sue’s all-over-the-place personality is that of a Gemini.

After all, Geminis are commonly associated with a willingness to accept people however they come. Considering Sue’s mood can change based on the day, her ideal soulmate would be a Gemini, as they can accept her for who she is.

Cancer: Henry

Cancers are commonly ascribed with traits of sentimentality and nostalgia. What makes them a perfect soulmate match for Henry (Chinaza Uche), though, is their ability to place the need to protect others above any other emotion.

Henry embraces this trait always, but especially in the show’s second season. Cancers will find innate kinship with Henry’s need to protect people; it’s what they’ll love most about him.

Leo: Samuel Bowles

Finn Jones in Dickinson

Samuel Bowles (Finn Jones) is so clearly a Dickinson character with a deep lust for life. He feels passion at every turn of both his personal and professional lives. His ideal soulmate would be someone who could partially counterbalance this, but also embrace his fiery spirit.

Leos are self-assured, so they would be able to hold their own against Bowles’ occasionally selfish behavior. They would also be able to empathize with his dramatic, passionate nature.

Virgo: Emily

On Dickinson, Emily is obviously the most well-rounded, dynamic, enriching character. Any zodiac sign would be lucky to be her soulmate! But it’s pretty clear that Virgos have the qualities that could best complement Emily.

After all, Emily feels every emotion so deeply and so empathetically that it can be impossible to match her. Instead, Virgos go the other direction. They’re known for being more practical, analytical types. They’d be perfect soulmates because Emily needs that sort of grounding presence, just as Virgos need encouragement to celebrate the love and heartbreak of the poetic world.

Libra: Edward

Considering how fickle and hard-nosed Edward can be (although he does maintain some streaks of open-mindedness and generosity), the ideal soulmate for him would be someone who can accept this personality, but also challenge it.

No zodiac sign is more fair-minded than a Libra. With Edward, Libras would be able to understand his perspective on social matters, but also provide the necessary reason to keep him in check and foster their love.

Scorpio: Louisa May Alcott

Zosia Mamet as Louisa May Alcott in Dickinson

Obviously, the characters on Dickinson are based on real people. It’s a very loose basis, though. But, Louisa May Alcott (Zosia Mamet) might be the character with the most liberties taken out of all of them.

Her portrayal on the show is one of a confident millennial-type figure, who is quite eager to pass on wisdom to her contemporaries. Furthermore, she clearly embraces a passion for writing and has immense courage for a fledgling author of the time. Scorpios will cherish these attributes within her, as they tend to mirror that sense of passion.

Sagittarius: Austin

Emily’s brother, Austin (Adrian Blake Enscoe), is a character who has become more complicated over time. At his core, though, he has always been a leader who loves deeply and worries that he’ll never be good enough.

Some of the top qualities of a Sagittarius, however, will prove to be a quality counterweight to some of the more hard-to-manage traits of Austin. Sagittariuses would be great soulmates for Austin because they’d inject humor and optimism into their relationship, while Austin would maintain practicality and gravity.

Capricorn: Death

It’s hard to imagine someone being the soulmate for Death (Wiz Khalifa). At first, it may not seem like a compliment. On Dickinson, though, Khalifa’s portrayal of Death depicts a supernatural figure who is actually pretty chill and fun to spend time with.

Anyone who is a soulmate of Death, though, would need to possess an independent spirit, because no one should ever rely on or attach themselves too strongly to Death. Capricorns are known not only for their tenacity, but for their self-reliance, making them a perfect suitor for a hooded figure.

Aquarius: Vinnie

Vinnie (Anna Baryshnikov) definitely came into her own in season two, showing off some pretty scandalous sides to her character. Above all else, she’s become a wholly original spirit, and people who are unabashedly themselves make for ideal soulmates for those who embody similar personas.

The best soulmate for Vinnie is someone who could be just as weird as she is. It’s more fun that way! There’d never be a dull day for Vinnie, just as there are none for Aquariuses.

Pisces: Henry David Thoreau

Perhaps even crueler than giving Death a soulmate is the idea that Henry David Thoreau (John Mulaney) deserves one. No one should be subjected to that isolated, pretentious lifestyle. No one, that is, except for a Pisces.

The Pisces sign is the one with the best shot at being a soulmate of Thoreau’s. They could help re-inject the needed empathy and artistry that Thoreau clearly sought to cultivate in his life. Only a Pisces might actually find the Dickinson version of Thoreau tolerable. That’s what soulmates are made of.
