Where to Watch House of the Dragon

Looking for where to watch the new HBO series, House of the Dragon? This spinoff of Game of Thrones takes viewers back to a world of dragons, war, and cut-throat competition for the crown. Given the success of Game of Thrones, there was never any real doubt that the adventures in Westeros would end with it, even though winter really did come with Game of Thrones‘ unsatisfying final season.

Despite the stunning success of HBO’s Game of Thrones throughout 7 sensational seasons, the series went from cutting edge to attracting accusations of clunkiness in season 8, with lots of fans expressing disdain for how it ended. While there are many valid theories as to why the final season of Game of Thrones was so far off its game, the simple fact that the television series outpaced George R.R. Martin’s novels and required different writers was the likely cause for the jarring changes when winter finally came to Westeros. That’s why a prequel is a perfect solution, and fans are beyond excited about a return to the fight for the Iron Throne by traveling back 200 years in GOT history to a time when the Targaryens still ruled the land and dragons ruled the skies.

Why You Should Be Excited About House Of The Dragon

According to Author, George R.R. Martin, the prequel series “does better with dragons,” compared to Game of Thrones, accentuating not only their individual colors more clearly than the three dragons featured in GOT, but also the dragons’ individual personalities, including one who’s a bit neurotic and eagle-like, and an elder female dragon described as curmudgeonly. Because this is a time period from before the fire-breathers became extinct, there are hundreds of them used by members of the house of Targaryen and the riders develop deep bonds with their dragons.

New technology allows the actors in House of the Dragon to view a digitally generated sky with pre-planned flight effects while they’re astride their “dragons” making their reactions much more engaged compared to GOT actors who saw only a green screen. Martin describes the prequel as “powerful, visceral, and dark … with flawed characters like those in a Shakespearean tragedy.” He’s also admitted that he’s already viewed all ten episodes of the first season, and he’s “very happy.”

The prequel series revolves around a more ancient Westeros world where the Targaryens fight amongst each other for the Iron Throne while members of the Houses Lannister, Baratheon, Velaryon, and Starke plot against the family from the outside —and with fire-breathing dragons lighting up the night sky, it’s certain to be a wild ride.
