In Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, players control Eivor, a Viking raider on a mission of vengeance to defeat the man who killed their parents. This man, a rogue warlord called Kjotve the Cruel, was based on a historical Viking bearing the same name. In Assassin’s Creed: Valhalla, he has many men at his disposal, and his fight is one of the more difficult. Several of his men operate behind the scenes as spies, and, as part of the Rude Awakening quest, the player as Eivor will need to find and dispatch them. Eivor must be in stealth to do this, so players will need to be sure to remember the stealth mechanic and avoid detection.
The location of the first of Kjotve’s spies will be marked on the map with a green quest marker. This spy is the intruder who wakes Eivor from their sleep to start the Rude Awakening questline. The player will have to find the other two spies by exploring the area, by sending up their raven to scout the area, or by consulting a guide like this one. When Eivor is awakened, they will need to chase after the first spy, the intruder, by following the teal marker. The spy will stop intermittently, giving the player a chance to approach from behind rather than starting a fight in the open. The player can use their Hidden Blade, and one strike will take out the spy instantly.
At this point, the player can send up Eivor’s raven to scout the map for the remaining spies. Both will be hiding near Fornburg to the left of the docks, in a small camp hidden behind rocks. To reach it, players should face the water, go left, and climb the rocks in the training area. They can then climb the gravel path behind a building that abuts the mountain to find the camp. Players will have the best luck using stealth to eliminate these two spies and avoid a fight.
Eivor can separate the spies further by crouching in the bushes and whistling. When one gets close enough, another single strike with Hidden Blades will do the trick to get rid of him silently. Eivor can approach the second one and use a jump attack like air assassination to make quick work of that one to.
After successfully eliminating the spies, Eivor will need to return to the docks and talk to Sigurd to continue the Rude Awakening quest. The next step will be to loot Kjotve’s warriors.
