When To Start Your Star Wars Rewatch Before Rise Of Skywalker

When To Start Your Star Wars Rewatch Before Rise Of Skywalker

If you want to rewatch the Star Wars film saga in preparation for Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, here’s when you should start. The Skywalker saga began in 1977 with the film now known as Star Wars: A New Hope, which along with The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi form the original trilogy. A prequel trilogy was released between 1999 and 2005, with the purpose of expanding on the backstory of Darth Vader and other characters from a galaxy far, far away.

The Star Wars universe is constantly expanding, and in 2015 the sequel trilogy began with Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Now, after Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Star Wars fans are preparing for the final chapter in the Skywalker saga: Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. The story is set a year after the events in The Last Jedi and will follow the remnants of the Resistance as they face the First Order once again. It’s going to be a big event for the fans of the saga, many of whom will most likely opt for a rewatch of the full saga before The Rise of Skywalker is released.

Up to this point, Star Wars’ Skywalker saga consists of eight films. One film per week is the most doable (and enjoyable) way to do a rewatch, taking into account that life can sometimes get a bit chaotic, so it’s better to take your time. If you want to take things slowly, your Star Wars rewatch should begin on the week of October 21 – that way you get to watch one film per week, with The Rise of Skywalker being your Star Wars film of the week of December 16 (as it comes out on Friday, December 20). That is, of course, without counting the anthology films Rogue One and Solo: A Star Wars Story, but if you want to add them to your rewatch, then you should begin on the week of October 7.

If you want to save time and go with two films per week, counting The Rise of Skywalker as your second film of that week, your Star Wars rewatch would have to begin on the week of November 18, with only one film the first week. Adding the anthology films, you should start rewatching on the week of November 11, again with one film on the first week. Now, if you are feeling adventurous and committed, and want to go through the experience of one film per day, then you should begin on December 12 (or December 10 if you add the anthology films).

There are many ways a Star Wars rewatch can go before Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is released, and these are just some options depending on your free time (and commitment). A timely rewatch of the saga is entirely possible – but whether timely means a marathon of all the movies in a week, or spreading them out over the next few months, is up to you.
