When Jedi: Fallen Order Takes Place Compared To Obi-Wan Kenobi Show

The Disney+ Star Wars series Obi-Wan Kenobi will take place in between Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and it will include locations and concepts from the 2019 video game Jedi: Fallen Order. Both properties center on Jedi surviving the Jedi Purge, a galaxy-wide pogrom perpetrated by the Empire. In addition to similar premises and shared locales, the two are set only a few years apart in the Star Wars canon timeline.

2019’s Jedi: Fallen Order told the story of Cal Kestis, a former padawan and Order 66 survivor, who seeks to restore the Jedi Order and return to his path towards Jedi Knighthood. The video game heavily features Imperial Inquisitors, dark side-using Jedi-hunters who were trained by Darth Vader himself. The game’s finale takes place in Fortress Inquisitorius, a sinister stronghold on Nur where the Inquisitors are headquartered.

Obi-Wan Kenobi will follow the adventures of the titular Jedi Master as he watches over Luke Skywalker on Tatooine. The series will feature at least three Inquisitors, with one being a new character and the remainder having debuted in Star Wars Rebels. Obi-Wan will also include the live-action debut of Fortress Inquisitorius, and with its Fallen Order debut being set in 14 BBY, Kenobi will take place five years later, as its story begins in 9 BBY.

When Jedi: Fallen Order Takes Place Compared To Obi-Wan Kenobi Show

While most of the Star Wars canon timeline’s Inquisitors were introduced in Rebels and 2017’s Darth Vader comics, Obi-Wan will feature a new dark side agent: the Third Sister. Played by Moses Ingram, this new Inquisitor may fill the void left by the Second Sister and Ninth Sister, both of whom perished in Fallen Order. Additionally, Fortress Inquisitorius was damaged during Fallen Order’s finale, and while most of it was likely repaired five years later, there may be visual acknowledgments of Cal Kestis’ fateful mission to Nur in the series.

Obi-Wan isn’t the first live-action property to reference Fallen Order. The Book of Boba Fett featured a BD unit, similar to Cal Kestis’ companion, BD-1, who worked for Peli Motto on Tatooine. While an appearance by any of Jedi: Fallen Order’s major characters are unlikely, the inclusion of Fortress Inquisitorius and perhaps a reference or two to the deceased Second and Ninth Sisters, Purge Troopers, or the two Jedi who remain at large may supplement Obi-Wan Kenobi’s mere five-year proximity to the events of the 2019 video game.
