What’s Next For Negan & Leah? Why Walking Dead Might Team Them Up

Warning: Spoilers ahead for The Walking Dead season 11, episode 9

Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Leah’s stories could collide in The Walking Dead season 11 part 2. Following the battle between Maggie’s group and the Reapers, both Leah (Lynn Collins) and Negan headed off to parts unknown. It’s not clear when either character will appear again, or what reason they’d have for returning to Alexandria.

The conclusion of the Reaper storyline seemingly ended the conflict with Leah, but didn’t kill her off. Unlike the rest of her people, Leah walked away with just a non-fatal bullet wound. Daryl (Norman Reedus) warned her not to come back, but time will tell if she will actually heed his warning. As for Negan, he took a lesson from how Maggie (Lauren Cohan) killed the Reapers, and decided that her breaking her promise not to kill him was inevitable. Now, Negan has left Alexandria. But of course, this isn’t the end of the road for Morgan’s character. As trailers for Walking Dead season 11 part 2 have confirmed, Negan still has a role on the show, even if he’s no longer allied with the main characters.

It’s possible that The Walking Dead season 11 part 2 will bring Negan and Leah together in a future episode. While it may have appeared that the show was writing off Leah, her presence in the promos proves that the series isn’t done with her yet. Since she and Negan both left in the same episode, their proximity to each other should be fairly close. With that in mind, it’s certainly feasible that their paths could cross in the near future. If that were to occur, they could decide to travel together. While they were on opposite sides before, that fight has ended. Plus, Negan is no longer a part of Maggie’s group, and given his own history, he may not have issues with Leah’s violent past.

With both characters being alone, it would make sense for the series to pair them up, at least temporarily. Trailers have revealed that Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s Negan will eventually have an unidentified woman as a traveling companion, but it could be that Leah will play a part in his next story as well. Negan, Leah, and perhaps this mystery character could find safety in numbers and agree to stick together for a while. While the rest of the main characters deal with the arrival of the Commonwealth, Negan and Leah may go on their own journey.

As for what their story could offer, it’s worth noting that they share a common enemy in Maggie. Negan’s decision to leave shows that his current plan is to avoid a fight, but that could change if she ever makes an attempt to track his movements. If he were to decide that Maggie still poses a threat to him, he might be inclined to form an alliance with Leah. In turn, Leah could use Negan to help her get revenge on the person who killed her friends in The Walking Dead season 11 part 2.
