What Will Samsung Announce At MWC 2022?

Samsung has announced that it will hold a Mobile World Congress 2022 launch event, and an official teaser hints at what to expect. The Korean tech giant already had a major launch in early February, its first Galaxy Unpacked event for 2022, during which it announced the Galaxy S22 series and the Galaxy Tab S8 series, but it appears there is more in store.

Mobile World Congress 2022 will be held in Barcelona, but like the 2021 edition, some companies, such as Lenovo, will not have a physical presence but will instead present a virtual event live-streamed on the web. In 2020, the GSMA, the organizers of the tech show, had to cancel the event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2022 edition of the event is scheduled to begin on Feb. 28 and will run through March 3, 2022.

Samsung will be holding its MWC 2022 launch event on Feb. 27, and it will be streamed live on its official YouTube channel beginning at 7 p.m. CET. While the official post didn’t explicitly say what to expect, save for hinting at work and education-related announcements, Samsung included a gif that teased what was coming. The teaser consists of a computer, tablet, foldable phones in the style of the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, as well as a smartphone with a design similar to the Galaxy S22 Ultra.

New Galaxy Book Models?

What Will Samsung Announce At MWC 2022?

Seeing as the teaser image includes a computer, there is a high chance that Samsung will announce new laptops under its Galaxy Book line. The last Galaxy Book announcement was nearly a year ago and was for the launch of the Galaxy Book, Galaxy Book Odyssey, Galaxy Book Pro and the Galaxy Book Pro 360. Therefore, there is a high chance it will announce successors to these computers that Intel’s 12th gen processors will power. Furthermore, considering it mentioned education-related announcements, one or more Chromebooks targeted at the classroom may also be unveiled at the event.

The teaser clearly shows its latest foldable smartphones and a smartwatch, but Samsung is not expected to announce successors for these products until later this year. Notwithstanding, with their presence in the teaser, announcements tied to these products are expected. It is speculated that Samsung may reveal new software experiences for these products. It already has some new features planned for the Galaxy Watch 4 duo, such as bringing the Google Assistant to the two watches. There is also Android 12L, the updated version of Android 12 that is targeted at foldables and devices with larger displays, including tablets. Samsung’s announcement may reveal more details about what is new and when to expect the updates.

There are unconfirmed rumors that there may be new smartphone announcements at the event too, and the highly anticipated Galaxy A53 5G may be one of the new phones. Samsung announced the Galaxy A52 5G in March 2021, and MWC 2022 is the perfect stage to announce a successor.
