What To Expect From Nobody 2

What To Expect From Nobody 2

Since audiences loved Nobody, many are now anxiously awaiting the announcement of Nobody 2. The 2021 movie plays out like a typical crime thriller, with Bob Odenkirk starring as a family man who squares off against a Russian drug lord. Nobody was co-produced by David Leitch, who previously directed franchise films such as John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, and Hobbs & Shaw. The ending and post-credits scene in Nobody set up a sequel — so are there any plans to make Nobody 2?

In Nobody, Hutch Mansell (Odenkirk) lives a mundane life and fails to take action when two criminals rob his home. He eventually tracks down the thugs and comes face to face with their boss, Yulian Kuznetsov (Aleksei Serebryakov). Visual clues imply that Hutch is a former military operative with elite combat skills, and subplots reveal that his father David (Christopher Lloyd) and adoptive brother Harry (RZA) are similarly capable of defending themselves. Written by John Wick creator Derek Kolstad and directed by Ilya Naishuller, Nobody features extraordinary fight sequences and moves along quickly at only 92 minutes in length.

The action movie was a hit upon release, pleasing both critics and general audiences alike. Nobody has a cast of talented actors who help make the action movie fun, thrilling, and engaging. Naishuller’s 2021 film proves that Odenkirk is perfectly capable of headlining an action franchise, one that could potentially crossover with the John Wick film series. Here’s what to expect for Nobody 2.

A Nobody 2 Script Is Being Written

What To Expect From Nobody 2

Although Nobody 2 hasn’t officially been greenlit, director Ilya Naishuller told /Film in an interview that Derek Kolstad was already working on a script for the Nobody sequel. According to Naishuller, “There’s plenty of stories that can be told in this world, with the character Hutch. I know that Derek (Kolstad) has begun work on the sequel.

This followed news that Kolstad already had an idea for a potential Nobody 2 project. In April 2021, the screenwriter told Collider that Nobody 2 already had an opening scene. Apparently, the sequel would stick to the template established in Nobody, with the first scene echoing that in the original.

Nobody 2 will most likely release in late 2023 or 2024, and if producers do move forward with a franchise, then two films could potentially be shot back-to-back. In that case, the sequel could release in 2024 and the third franchise installment could release by 2025 or 2026.

Nobody resolves its main conflict and concludes with a “Three Months Later” sequence, along with a post-credits scene. All of the main protagonists will seemingly return for a sequel, and there will likely be more information revealed about RZA and Lloyd’s characters. Expect another big-name performer to join the cast as a villain in Nobody 2.

Nobody 2 Story Details

Nobody Burning Money

Thanks to similarities with the John Wick franchise, Nobody stands a good chance of becoming a solic franchise. A post-script moment teases the central character’s backstory and future conflict, while the credits scene implies that Lloyd and RZA will be involved in a sequel. With Nobody 2, Odenkirk could evolve into one of cinema’s unlikeliest action stars. As for a John Wick crossover, writer Kolstad has stated that it “shouldn’t” happen — but that doesn’t mean that the two franchises can’t exist in the same fictional world. Given Odenkirk’s age (he was born in 1962), it might make sense to use Nobody 2 to set up another character to take on the mantle, allowing Hutch to return to his quiet family life while another hero takes out vengeful drug lords.
