What Time Andor Releases On Disney+

Star Wars’ latest live-action series is premiering next week; here’s what time Andor releases on Disney+. Though much of the series’ plot remains a mystery, Tony Gilroy’s Andor is confirmed to be a prequel to 2016’s Rogue One and will feature Diego Luna’s reprisal of Rebel-spy Cassian Andor. The series takes place five years prior to the film, at a critical time in Star Wars history when the Rebel Alliance were forming their opposition against the Galactic Empire.

Andor season 1 is confirmed to be 12 episodes long, making it the longest original live-action series on Disney+. That is, of course, until Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again releases its 18-episode run in 2024. Featuring an ensemble cast including Forest Whitaker’s Saw Gerrera and the introduction of new characters like the salvage droid B2EMO, Andor is slated to become another thrilling addition to Star Wars live-action. Here’s what time Andor releases on Disney+.

What Time Andor Releases On Disney+

Episode 1 of Andor will premiere its first three episodes on Wednesday, September 21st, at 12 am (midnight) PT / 3 am ET. The nine remaining episodes will be released once per week, also on Wednesdays and at the same time. The finale will air on November 23rd. The first three episodes of Andor will be 39, 35, and 40 minutes, with episodes 4-12 expected to run an average of 35-50 minutes each.

Why Disney+ Doesn’t Release Episodes Earlier Like Amazon & Hulu

Disney+ Pixar Marvel Star Wars

While Disney+ could release content earlier in the day like their competitors Amazon Prime Video and Hulu, publishing their content at 3 am EST ensures the content is released at midnight on the West Coast. This means regardless of time zone, releases are on the same day worldwide. While this is inconvenient for those having to wait until a reasonable time to watch the latest content, it helps to mitigate spoilers, as new releases are available to everyone on the same day. Otherwise, spoilers from viewers in other regions would be available to North American audiences the night before they have access to the content. Additionally, its release times allow Disney+ to cater to those outside of North America, who are able to watch new content at a reasonable time, in turn increasing release-date viewership for new series like the Rogue One prequel Andor.

While season 1 of Andor will release over just two months, there’s already more to look forward to. Ahead of its premiere, Gilroy has confirmed the series has been renewed for season 2, which will include 12 episodes directly leading into the events of Rogue One. With the success of previous Star Wars series and anticipation already running high for its two seasons, Disney+’ Andor is sure to be a hit.
