What Sebastian Stan Could Look Like as Captain America

What Sebastian Stan Could Look Like as Captain America

Of all the supporting characters to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sebastian Stan looks to have landed one with a potentially bright future. Stan has been a part of the MCU since 2011, debuting as Bucky Barnes in Captain America: The First Avenger. Since then, he has taken up the Winter Soldier mantle, which has played a big factor in his last two appearances. Even though he is currently on ice in Wakanda following the events of Captain America: Civil War, there are still some that think he could eventually replace Chris Evans as Captain America.

This theory has been brought up once again after Joe Russo stated that Steve is no longer Captain America as they head into Avengers: Infinity War. He still may be expected to pick up the shield once more to battle Thanos, but past that point remains a mystery. If Bucky does take up the mantle in his absence, we now have some potential designs to see what it could look like.

Photoshop artist Boss Logic has worked his magic once again to produce three different designs for what Bucky could look like in the star and stripes. While the body of the design remains the same throughout the three following designs, the artist experiments with two different masks, and then a look that does not include a mask. Check out his designs below:

If Marvel Studios does decide to put Stan in the position to play Captain America, the final option is one that would seem to best fit the character. One thing that could change that is the perception that the public has toward Bucky. If they are aware of his history as an assassin, especially his involvement with killing Tony’s parents, there could be unease within the Avengers to see Bucky take up the mantle. If that is the case, then putting a mask on him to hide his identity would certainly help make that less problematic.

The possibility of Bucky becoming Captain America is simply that at this moment in time. Evans has expressed desire to stay involved with the MCU past Phase 3, and if that is the case then there is hardly a chance they will not keep him around. After all, Evans has become the perfect embodiment of who Steve Rogers is and has received one of the best arcs so far. On the other hand, Stan has proven himself to be a worthy supporting actor, but that does not mean he is ready to lead one of the biggest franchises Marvel has. We will know much more about the possibility of this happening when Phase 3 comes to an end, but until then anything is possible.
