Despite releasing next month, story details for Resident Evil Village have been pretty scarce. The game picks up after the events in Resident Evil 7: Biohazard and follow the protagonist from that game, Ethan Winters. Now, thanks to a new RE Village gameplay trailer, some additional story details have been revealed.
Thanks to a new RE8 gameplay trailer revealed by IGN, players have gotten to see Ethan Winters as he navigates passages inside of Castle Dimistrescu. Some of the trailer takes viewers through similar locations seen in Village‘s Maiden demo, while also connecting back to a scene previously showed in the game’s extended trailer. The majority of the new gameplay trailer has Ethan going through underground passages covered in wine or blood (or both), as he shoots at a variety of menacing enemies.
Although glimpsed at the beginning of the trailer, Lady Dimitrescu is shown speaking on the phone for an extended period toward the end. As Resident Evil Village‘s tall lady, she’s captured the attention and adoration of a lot of fans already. Presumably, Lady Dimitrescu will serve as one of the primary antagonists of the game. However, she’s on the phone with someone named Mother Miranda, a mysterious figure that Lady Dimitrescu appears to fear.
Story Details Revealed In Resident Evil Village’s Gameplay Trailer
It’s in this phone conversation near the end of Resident Evil Village’s new gameplay trailer that some new story details are revealed. Lady Dimitrescu says that she and her daughters couldn’t complete a ceremony now that Ethan Winters has escaped. This may be connected to the Dimitrescu’s adding virginal blood into their wine, or it may be something else entirely. For now, this ceremony remains a bit of a mystery.
Lady Dimitrescu also says that Ethan escaped from Heisenberg, and that Heisenberg will pay for letting Ethan go. With his glasses and wild hair, Heisenberg was revealed as one of the characters in Resident Evil Village previously. It seems that at some point in the story, Heisenberg will try to capture Ethan for Lady Dimitrescu, perhaps while Ethan is exploring the eponymous village.
Footage of Lady Dimitrescu on the phone with Mother Miranda was shown before, but now the scene can be viewed with more context. It will be interesting to see how the Dimitrescu family, Mother Miranda, and the mysterious ceremony will play into events in Resident Evil Village, as well as how they might connect to Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.
