What Pokémon Pre-Release Promo Cards Are In Chilling Reign

The Pokémon Trading Card Game is expanding to the Crown Tundra soon thanks to the Chilling Reign expansion. Ahead of the expansion’s full release, Build & Battle Boxes will be available to purchase. Now, pre-release promo cards available in those sets have surfaced online, allowing fans to catch a glimpse of what new cards await them.

While most of the Chilling Reign expansion, like Booster Packs and Elite Trainer Boxes, aren’t available for a couple of more weeks, Pokémon‘s Build & Battle Boxes will release early on June 5, 2021. The boxes include legal decks that are ready to use, and will also feature an exclusive promo card per box. Given how hard it is to obtain Pokémon cards right now, trying to get every pre-release promo card may be difficult. Finding the boxes in stores will be key, since scalping continues to be a major problem.

The leaked promo cards come via a user named Jonathan S. on PokéBeach, and show off the four cards expected to be available in the Build & Battle Boxes for Chilling Reign. Thanks to the introduction of Rapid Strike and Single Strike cards, several of these promo cards will feature these mechanics as well, offering players a chance to find Pokémon with these abilities.

Pokémon Chilling Reign Promo Cards – Inteleon & Cresselia

Two of the four new pre-release promo cards for Chilling Reign are Inteleon and Cresselia. While Cresselia is just a new variant, Inteleon is a Rapid Strike card. This mechanic was introduced recently in the Battle Styles expansion of the Pokémon TCG. This means Inteleon deals lesser damage all at once, but is capable of spreading out damage over time to make up for it.

Pokémon Chilling Reign Promo Cards – Cinderace & Passimian

The other two cards allegedly releasing with the Chilling Reign Build & Battle Boxes are Cinderace and Passimian. Like Inteleon, Passimian is a Rapid Strike card while Cinderace is a Single Strike card that can hit hard in a single turn. Both cards also feature cameos of other Pokémon as well, which makes them pretty interesting aesthetically.

As with any leaks, it may be best to take these pre-release promo cards with a grain of salt. However, these four Pokémon cards look legit, so there’s a good chance they’re arriving in Build & Battle Boxes on June 5. It’s a great way for Pokémon Trading Card Game players and collectors to get excited for the new decks ahead of the Chilling Reign expansion’s full release later this month.
