What Happened To Robin & Nephew Garrett After My 600-Lb Life Season 7

My 600-lb Life star Robin McKinley and her nephew Garrett Rogers had an inspirational weight loss journey, and it is time to explore where they are in 2023. At the beginning of their My 600-lb Life episode, which aired in 2019, Robin was 40 years old and 648 pounds. Garrett was 20 years old and 607 pounds. Robin decided to seek help from renowned bariatric surgeon Dr. Younan Nowzaradan AKA Dr. Now. Her brother, Chris, who is Garrett’s father and also severely overweight, was supposed to be Dr. Now’s patient as well. However, he suffered a heart attack that left him too weak to make the trip from their home state of Kansas to Houston, Texas, to see him.

Garrett decided to take his place, and he, Robin, and her husband James went to see My 600-lb Life‘s Dr. Now. Robin and Garrett worked hard to follow Dr. Now’s diet and exercise program. Although it was difficult for Robin because she had bad knees, she pushed herself to try. Garrett was also determined to lose weight, although he was preoccupied with moving back home to help take care of his father. After their weight loss surgery, Robin had lost 254 pounds and weighed 395 pounds. Garrett lost 270 pounds and weighed 337 pounds.

My 600-lb Life’s Robin McKinley & Garrett Rogers Continued To Lose Weight

A January 2023 episode of My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now? gave an update about Robin and Garrett’s weight loss. Unlike their first episode, which chronicled a year in their lives, this My 600-lb Life show spanned three years because their journey was interrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Garrett had moved back home to Kansas to be with his father.

When Robin and James heard that COVID-19 would cause a shutdown, they also headed back to Kansas to be with their family. Almost two years had passed before their next appointment with Dr. Now. However, they were able to continue to lose weight even without checking in with him in person. When the My 600-lb Life stars returned to Dr. Now’s office, Robin had lost a total of 400 pounds and weighed 248 pounds, while Garrett had lost 354 pounds and weighed 253 pounds.

Robin and Garrett, who were on My 600-lb Life like Penny Saeger, both eventually qualified for skin removal surgery. However, Garrett was unwilling to follow Dr. Now’s rule that he would have to temporarily move to Houston for the surgery and its aftermath because he didn’t want to leave his father, and neither did Robin. They asked Dr. Now to recommend a colleague in Kansas to do the surgeries, and he found Dr. Mona Rane to perform the successful operations. At the end of their My 600-lb Life: Where Are They Now? episode, after four years, Robin weighed 223 pounds with a total weight loss of 425 pounds. Garrett weighed 227 pounds with a total weight loss of 380 pounds.

My 600-lb Life stars, Robin and Garrett, had one of the most amazing journeys in the history of the show. They were not only able to reach their weight loss goals and keep the weight off at first, but they did it through the COVID-19 pandemic. Dr. Now was concerned that returning to the environment where they gained the weight in the first place could be a problem, but they did not allow it to stop them. Robin and Garrett are one of My 600-lb Life‘s most inspiring success stories.
