What Gabriela Barragan Is Up To Since Leaving Below Deck Sailing Yacht

Gabriela Barragan ended her stint on Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 3 early due to personal reasons and fans are curious to know what she’s been up to since. Gabriela came into her season with a positive attitude and was excited to learn from her chief stew Daisy Kelliher. However, when Daisy made Gabriela second stew over Ashley Marti, it caused tension between them. Although the two stews had pretty much the same experience, Daisy gave Gabriela the second stew role because she was older than Ashley.

Throughout the upcoming charters, Gabriela felt frustrated because Ashley wasn’t giving her the respect as her superior and often ignored her list of tasks. The stress of the boat caused Gabriela to make mistakes and during a charter, a miscommunication between her and the chef Marcos Spaziani caused an issue with dinner service. Gabriela and Marcos got into a heated argument during a day off and the second stew felt herself withdrawing from her crewmates. After thinking long and hard about it, Gabriela made the decision to leave Parsifal III and work on her mental health.

Since leaving Below Deck Sailing Yacht, Gabriela started working as a first mate on Below Deck season 9 deckhand Wes O’Dell’s boat. Wes has a charter sailboat, Nightwind II, that he runs out of St. Thomas. Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans were delighted to learn that Gabriela and Wes started dating after working closely together. Gabriela shared pictures of her posing on the impressive sailboat on her Instagram feed and seems to still be going strong with Wes.

It looks as if Gabriela splits her time between St. Thomas and San Diego, which is where the Below Deck Sailing Yacht star grew up. Her latest Instagram posts shows her on a sailboat in San Diego. It’s unclear whether Gabriela is working or simply enjoying the water, but fans have commented that she looks happy. Gabriela also shared her Afro-Latina heritage with a video of her doing an “Afro-Americans” inspired dance. She told her fans that she hadn’t danced in two years due to her busy yachting career, but is now taking the time to revisit things she was passionate about.

Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans are happy to see Gabriela thriving and doing well off the show. As viewers can see, the yachting industry is not easy and Below Deck yachties can easily become drained. Wes’ Below Deck cast member Jessica Albert also couldn’t handle the stress of the boat and left mid-season. Captain Glenn Shephard was very understanding about Gabriela needing to quit for her well-being and hopefully Below Deck Sailing Yacht fans will see her back on the show.
