What A LEGO Star Wars: The Bad Batch Video Game Could Look Like

The latest animated Star Wars project, The Bad Batch, recently concluded with an explosive finale. With a second season confirmed, The Bad Batch could undoubtedly benefit from a LEGO Star Wars game to boost popularity even more. The Bad Batch has the perfect location for a LEGO hub area and a colorful cast of Star Wars characters to play. Their abilities, story, and era in the Star Wars universe are unique compared to larger projects and could explore a new chapter for LEGO games.

LEGO Star Wars games have been extremely successful, with six console titles and a mobile game produced. Previous LEGO Star Wars titles primarily explored the original, prequel, and sequel Star Wars trilogies. However, the LEGO Star Wars III: Clone Wars game took its source material from The Clone Wars television series. The Bad Batch explores new eras, characters, and locations outside the traditional Galactic Republic and Galactic Empire stories, so it could make a great video game as well.

The Bad Batch explores the time period that stretches from the ending of the Clone Wars to the beginnings of the Galactic Empire. Clone Force 99 consisted of genetically enhanced Jango Fett Clones, who had a 100% success rate for their missions. Initially, the Bad Batch comprised four members: Hunter, Wrecker, Tech, and Crosshair. However, this number expanded to include Clone Trooper Echo, who the team rescues from Separatist imprisonment. A Bad Batch LEGO game could explore the squad’s role during the Clone Wars, the show’s plot, and explore new Star Wars planets shown in the series.

The Bad Batch Has Diverse Skillsets That Fit The LEGO Star Wars Format

Each Clone Force 99 squadmate possesses unique abilities that equip them for different combat roles. Hunter is a tracker attuned to electromagnetic energy, Tech has exceptionally high intelligence, Wrecker is more powerful than any Clone, Crosshair is an expert sharpshooter, and Echo is a cyborg capable of computer interfacing. The Bad Batch’s diverse skillset would replace the need to constantly control droids or unnamed background characters to solve LEGO Star Wars puzzles and make every role meaningful. Thankfully, the characters are at least coming to the LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga via DLC for the Deluxe Edition.

However, a true LEGO Bad Batch video game could grow beyond the current limitation of co-op gameplay. At the height of their power, Clone Force 99 included five matured Clones with different mutations. Setting up co-op games with five players would allow LEGO developers to create more complex puzzles that depend on teamwork rather than breaking things until the solution presents itself. In addition, the Bad Batch’s interesting equipment, like blaster deflectors and vibro-knives, could diversify their weapons beyond simple blasters.

The Bad Batch is a somewhat unique chapter in the Star Wars universe and could create an impressive LEGO Star Wars game. The lack of Jedi and Sith may be a turn-off for some former players, but The Clone Wars succeeded in humanizing the Republic’s army like never before. The Bad Batch took this character development and funneled it into a single squadron. The series’ reception and confirmed second season proves The Bad Batch would make a perfect addition to the LEGO Star Wars video game series.
