Wells Adams Reveals How Bachelor In Paradise Season 8 Is Different

When Bachelor in Paradise premieres in the fall, fan favorite Wells Adams will return as the bartender, and he is now revealing how season 8 will be different from what Bachelor Nation has seen on the show before. Wells made his debut on JoJo Fletcher’s season of The Bachelorette in 2016 but didn’t form a connection with her. Later that year, he joined the cast of Bachelor in Paradise season 3. Since season 4, Wells has been the bartender in Mexico, and hosted the show for a week in season 7 as well. Wells got engaged to actress Sarah Hyland in 2019, and they will be married this year.

Bachelor in Paradise season 8 has already announced some changes, including its move from the ABC summer television line-up to the fall. The show will take over the Monday time slot of Dancing With the Stars, and will also air on Tuesday nights. The Bachelor and The Bachelorette host Jesse Palmer will take the reins of Bachelor in Paradise as well, replacing the rotating lineup of stars who hosted the show last summer, including David Spade, Lance Bass, Tituss Burgess, Lil Jon, and Wells.

In an interview on The Viall Files podcast, hosted by Bachelor Nation veteran Nick Viall, Wells revealed some more of the changes that fans will see in Bachelor in Paradise season 8, which has completed filming. Wells explained that because Rachel Recchia and Gabby Windey’s season of The Bachelorette had not yet started airing when Bachelor in Paradise began filming, he did not know the men from that season who showed up on the beach. He said, “It’s funny. This is so different from years past because, usually, we would start filming about halfway through the season of The Bachelorette while airing, so I would watch while we were filming so I could get a grasp of these guys.” He went on to say that Bachelor in Paradise season 8 was different because he “filmed an entire season with a bunch of guys that I didn’t know” and therefore went to Paradise “with eyes unclouded and just had no bias at all.” Wells said that he would ask the men about their time on The Bachelorette and “they all sugarcoated if they were the bad guy or the villain.” Wells did not reveal any of the cast members, but he did say that there would be both redemption stories and falls from grace for some of the contestants on Bachelor in Paradise season 8.

Wells also shared that another change from previous seasons of Bachelor in Paradise is that there will be more episodes. He said, “The season’s really good. It’s kinda bonkers. ABC ordered 13 more hours than we have done in the past, so it’s like six more episodes depending on how they cut it up, so it’s just a lot.” Wells revealed that although there are more episodes, the shoot schedule was not extended. He explained that this means that “all the things that in the past would have been left on the cutting room floor, will now be in the show, and that’s usually where I live. When they’re like, ‘You need to go do this weird reenactment.’ Or like puppets need to happen. You know, all that kind of stuff. So I’m excited for that.” Although there are some changes to Bachelor in Paradse season 8, Wells shared that all of the things that viewers want to see are still there. He said, “There’s a lot of crying, there’s a lot of sweating and yelling into the ocean, there’s a lot of crabs. And then there’s a lot of love, and there’s some really beautiful stories at the end.”

Wells’ revelations about Bachelor in Paradise season 8 seem to indicate that the show will be even bigger and better than ever before. The addition of more episodes to the season will mean that fans will be treated to more in-depth story arcs about the contestants and entertainment from Wells. Bachelor in Paradise is sure to heat up the ABC fall schedule.

Bachelor in Paradise premieres Tuesday, September 27 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
