Wednesday Season 2’s New Character Tease Could Be Great, But We’re Still Hesitant

Jenna Ortega’s comments about Wednesday season 2’s new characters are exciting, but there’s still a reason to be hesitant if more figures are introduced for the follow-up installment. The actress is gearing up to return as the titular Addams Family character for the next season of Netflix’s hit series. While Wednesday season 2 isn’t expected until 2025, there’s already plenty to look forward to based on comments from the cast, specifically Ortega.

Though it’s unclear where exactly Wednesday season’s 2 story will take Ortega’s character, there has been no shortage of hints that tease how the show will embrace more horror elements. Aside from more appearances by Wednesday’s family, it’s safe to assume that her teenage peers like Enid, Eugene, and Bianca will also be back in the mix. That said, based on Wednesday season 1’s ending, and the fates of characters like Tyler, Thornhill, and even Principal Weems, season 2 is bound to welcome a few fresh faces. Interestingly, Ortega teased Wednesday season 2’s new characters, and there seems to be a supernatural twist.

Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Season 2 New Character Comments Is A Good Sign For The Show

According to Ortega, Wednesday season 2 will feature some new characters with a hint that the show will be “definitely expanding on the supernatural world.” Building upWednesday‘s supernatural lore is a positive sign for the series, seeing as the comments imply that the characters will still be the driving force behind the show’s horror elements. While the settings and overall tone of the show helped cement Wednesday as a standout supernatural series, the characters did most of the heavy lifting. The fact that the show will add to the cast list also means more thrilling interactions between new figures and Wednesday’s dry and antisocial persona.

Wednesday obviously has a darkness inside of her, but it was her psychic abilities that truly added to the character’s mystique, and she’s not the only one. Season 1 featured an array of “outcasts” and supernatural beings that paved the way for even more exciting worldbuilding, including werewolves, shapeshifters, sirens, gorgons, and more. Even other members of the Addams family carried their own special powers and secrets, including the incorporation of Wednesday‘s witch ancestor, Goody Addams. Wednesday already teased potential characters named Wolfgang and Karloff, hinting at classic horror, but the key would be the supernatural duality of the newcomers.

Who Could Wednesday Season 2’s New Characters Be?

Wednesday Season 2’s New Character Tease Could Be Great, But We’re Still Hesitant

Ortega’s reference to “werewolves and vampires” when teasing Wednesday season 2’s new character might be exciting, but there’s still a reason to be hesitant. Seeing as the first season was primarily set at Nevermore Academy, there’s an easy way for the show to include more supernatural characters. However, season 2 needs to put a worthwhile spotlight on any new Wednesday characters for any supernatural teases to pay off. If there are new “outcasts” or supernatural beings, they would need to be more than classmates kept to the background. Conversely, Wednesday can’t risk overwhelming its already large cast list.

Including more supernatural characters linked to Nevermore Academy seems like the easiest way to add new figures for season 2, but Wednesday would benefit even more by introducing more Addams Family characters. The story could beyond Wednesday’s immediate family to include someone like Grandmama. However, the Netflix series may also create new family members, like Goody, to expand the family’s interesting history, which falls in line with Wednesday season 2’s Addams Family mansion tease. Whoever ends up appearing in Wednesday season 2, there’s plenty to get excited about as long as the new characters have a satisfying place in the growing story.
