Idris Elba has offered a positive reaction to news that Keanu Reeves will be joining Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as Shadow, saying they were “destined” to collaborate one more time. Elba voices Knuckles the Echidna in the live-action movie universe, a warrior originally tricked by Robotnik into helping him before befriending Sonic. Reeves’ character is also expected to be introduced as a villain in the next movie, albeit with a much different backstory and motivation.
Speaking with IGN, Elba revealed his reaction to Reeves joining the cast of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 as Shadow.
The actor said that he was a big fan of the action star’s work, also indicating the pair were always going to star in something because of their prior work. Check out what Elba had to say about his new co-star below:
Well, rumor has it we might share the screen again, but who knows? Keanu is…I’m a big fan of his. I’ve heard that he’s a fan of mine, and we are destined to make something together. So, here we go.
