Watch Stranger Things Season 4 Crew Apply Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven Wig

WARNING! Major spoilers for Stranger Things Season 4 Vol.1

A new video shows the hair and makeup department for Stranger Things season 4 applying Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven wig. When the Duffer Brothers’ homage to ‘80s entertainment debuted in 2016, it introduced audiences to Eleven, the telekinetic teenage girl who escaped a lab after being experimented on her whole life. Before she left, she opened a gate to an alternate dimension referred to as the Upside Down. Ever since, monsters like Demogorgons and the Mind Flayer have plagued the inhabitants of Hawkins, Indiana.

Volume I of Stranger Things season 4 began with a flashback to Eleven’s time in Hawkins Lab before the events of season 1. The opening scene shows a massacre, which appears to be caused by an 8-year-old Eleven. The series then picks up with a powerless Eleven, AKA Jane, and the Byers family in sunny California. Following a visit from Dr. Sam Owens, Eleven heads to Nevada, where she reunites with Dr. Martin Brenner/”Papa” and once again becomes a lab rat via the Nina Project—all in an attempt to get her powers back and find out what happened in the Rainbow Room all those years ago. While Eleven had to shave her head, Brown did not.

Stranger Things’ official Instagram page recently shared a video of Brown getting her wig applied for season 4. The clip details the lengthy process of turning the actress into Eleven. Check it out below:

Brown notably shaved her head to play Eleven during the production of Stranger Things season 1. While at the time she thought it was liberating, it’s understandable that she may not have wanted to do it again. The show was considerably smaller in season 1 and now they surely have the time/budget to make a wig and/or bald cap work. That said, season 4 also uses a double in Martie Blair to film the flashbacks/memories at Hawkins, with Brown’s own face de-aged and superimposed with CGI to create a very convincing younger version of Eleven.

Fans will get to see more of Eleven’s buzzed head in volume II of Stranger Things season 4 when it drops on July 1st. At the end of volume I, it was revealed that it was One who was responsible for the massacre at Hawkins Lab. Eleven was able to overpower him and send him to the Upside Down, where he became Vecna. Brown’s character will presumably begin Chapters 8 and 9 supercharged and ready to save her friends and take on her predecessor.
