Watch Dogs: Legion-Everything Coming in the Summer Updates

Watch Dogs: Legion-Everything Coming in the Summer Updates

After multiple delays, it’s looking like Ubisoft will have a hefty amount of content to roll out for Watch Dogs: Legion this summer. A recent update promises new story content, new mission types, and new characters to hack London with.

Watch Dogs: Legion made a big splash with its “play as anyone” gameplay. Unlike the first two games in the series, which starred a singular protagonist, Watch Dogs: Legion allowed players to recruit any NPC in London to their team of hacker resistance fighters. Ubisoft promised a significant amount of post-launch content, but much of it has been delayed for several months. For instance, the multiplayer mode for Watch Dogs: Legion didn’t release until March 2021, five months after the game’s initial launch. But players who have been looking forward to content updates should have a sizeable amount of content to enjoy in the coming months.

Watch Dogs: Legion has announced its next update will come June 1st, 2021. The content will be free to all and includes the addition of a 60 FPS Performance Mode to Watch Dogs: Legion on the latest generation consoles, as well as cross-gen play. The update will also include a free operative, Helen, the fan-favorite retired spy that was featured in many of Watch Dogs: Legion’s early demos. There is also a surprise being included in the June 1st update, with no details currently revealed. Players who have the paid Season Pass should keep an eye on early July, when the story content Bloodline will finally release, along with two fully playable hero characters, Aiden Pearce and Wrench. Besides being part of the Bloodline story, Aiden and Wrench will be playable in the main campaign, and players can spend the entire game as one of those two characters if they so choose.

What Watch Dogs: Legion Modes have Been Delayed

Watch Dogs: Legion-Everything Coming in the Summer Updates

August will be a mix of free and paid content, including two delayed modes, Invasion and Extraction. These PVP modes were originally scheduled for May 2021, but Ubisoft wanted to “invest more time into solid public & private matchmaking, as it’s key for us to provide you with a smooth, enjoyable PVP experience.”  These two modes will be released alongside an Assassin’s Creed crossover event. All players will receive new missions for the crossover, as well as a new world event; Season Pass players will receive a fully playable assassin hero named Darcy. August will also see the release of a single player resistance mode, and unspecified game improvements.

Watch Dogs: Legion has had many delays, with production no doubt complicated by the impact of COVID-19. Summer 2021 looks to be when Ubisoft will finally be able to deliver on many of the promised modes and characters, giving players plenty of new tools and experiences in Watch Dogs: Legion in the months ahead.

Watch Dogs: Legion is available now on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Stadia, and PC.
