The upcoming Call of Duty: Vanguard reveal event, taking place within Call of Duty: Warzone, will earn attending players new weapons and cosmetics. The next installment in the FPS franchise has been heavily rumored over the past few months. Now, it’s officially confirmed that Call of Duty: Vanguard will be revealed in Warzone during an in-game event set for August 19 at 10:30 AM PDT/1:30 PM EDT.

Many of the rumors surrounding the next Call of Duty title have been proven correct by the game’s official teases and announcement. Call of Duty: Vanguard will be set during World War II, the series’ original setting – which been absent from the franchise since 2017’s Call of Duty: WWII. While information about Vanguard is currently minimal, official art does indicate that the title will be set at least partially in the war’s Pacific Theater. Rumors of a four-player co-op mode are also supported by the presence of four distinct characters on the game’s poster. Further unconfirmed rumors suggest stronger-than-usual similarities between Vanguard‘s multiplayer and Black Ops Cold War.

Recent teases from Call of Duty give new hints at what players can expect from Warzone‘s upcoming Vanguard reveal event. The Call of Duty blog reveals that “a new kind of weapon” is making its way toward Warzone‘s Verdansk map. The ominous message suggests that Warzone players will be facing a mysterious new threat when they enter the battlefield on Thursday. The Call of Duty Twitter account has shed further light on the event, explaining that players will earn exclusive rewards for partaking in the Vanguard reveal. New weapon and knife blueprints, a bike skin, and a cosmetic timepiece will be among the “care package” spoils.

For those familiar with the Call of Duty franchise, the upcoming Vanguard tie-in event should come as no surprise. The always-evolving Call of Duty: Warzone was used to reveal Black Ops Cold Warand it appears that Vanguard will be also shown in the battle royale before the two inevitably integrate. Rumors suggest a massive Warzone map will launch alongside Vanguard, taking players from Verdansk to a huge swathe of World War II-era battlefield.

The coordination between Warzone and other Call of Duty titles has created a more or less seamless transition between new installments in the series. Just as the battle royale shooter tied into Black Ops Cold War, the upcoming in-game event will soon introduce players to the world of Call of Duty: Vanguard. With an unsettling new foe to face off against and brand-new rewards to earn, Call of Duty players will likely show up in droves into the Vanguard reveal event this week.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
