WandaVision’s Secret Actor Has Never Acted With Paul Bettany Before

The secret actor set to appear in WandaVision’s upcoming episodes has never shared the screen with Vision actor Paul Bettany before. The brand new Disney+ series is mere weeks into its nine-episode run and so far both fans and critics are deeply drawn to the program’s bizarre yet highly mysterious story arc.

As the MCU’s first-ever scripted TV series on Disney+, WandaVision offers a different approach to the sort of storytelling that fans are accustomed to seeing in the franchise’s numerous movies. Set post-Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision provides viewers with a reality that is both fragile and perplexing. The timeline corresponds with different eras of television, and from the earliest days of its existence, Disney has ensured that this new direction for the MCU remains a continuous source of intrigue for fans. Promotion leading up to the series’ release was filled with teases and even now, with the series three episodes in, the many mysteries that exist have managed to expand and become more enticing than ever. Time will tell just how the rest of WandaVision’s first season will go, but so far there’s plenty of reason to be excited.

Part of the uncertainty that keeps fans guessing and discussions lively is who will turn up in future episodes and how these new arrivals will affect the series overall. While recently speaking with Lights, Camera, Pod, WandaVision star Paul Bettany took a little bit of time to gush about how amazing the culmination of the series will be and how stunned MCU fans will be about it all. Naturally, Bettany is prohibited from directly giving things away about what’s to come, but he did end up saying a little about a secret actor who Bettany has always wanted to work with:

“I would also say that, you know, so many things get leaked and people find out about certain things, but there’s this thing that’s been kept completely under wraps that happens, and I work with this actor that I have always wanted to work with and we have fireworks together and the scenes are great and I think people will be really excited. I’ve always wanted to work with this guy and uh, it’s pretty – the scenes are pretty intense.”

Bettany’s excitement is clear and after teasing such a set-up for what’s yet to come, fans are undoubtedly going to be coming up with a wide range of theories. It’s hard to say just which actor could elicit such a degree of excitement in Bettany, but Bettany is hardly a new addition to the MCU. In addition to the time he’s spent over the years playing Jarvis/Vision, the 49-year-old has maintained a successful non-MCU related acting career that has seen him work with the likes of some very distinguished stars, including Morgan Freeman, Christopher Plummer, Angelina Jolie, and Tom Hanks, to name just a few.

As WandaVision appears to be set to take the MCU to new heights, it could be argued that the Disney+ series is one of the most important things to ever happen to the franchise. The degree of hype and excitement surrounding this next phase of Marvel’s continuous building could be likened to what’s occurred with another Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. That series appears to already be creating new ground for the  Star Wars franchise, in much the same way that Disney hopes to do with WandaVision.
