WandaVision: The Main Characters, Ranked From Most Heroic To Most Villainous

Marvel’s first Disney+ series, WandaVision, has introduced new characters and re-introduced several returning characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Like in real life, each of those characters is morally complex and has their own set of goals, viewpoints, and ideals that influence them as people.

While some characters only exist as heroes or villains, being solely good or evil, the majority of them, including Wanda herself, seem to fall somewhere in between those two extremes.

Vision

WandaVision: The Main Characters, Ranked From Most Heroic To Most Villainous

Since his birth in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Vision has proven that he is the most heroic character in the MCU. And while the Vision that Wanda created inside the Hex wasn’t the exact same as the original, that heroism is one aspect of the character that was consistent in both versions.

His most heroic moment in the series came after he realized that the citizens of Westview were being held against their will. After discovering this alarming fact, Vision tried to break through the Hex’s barrier to alert the SWORD agents on the outside to their situation. It’s a difficult scene to watch but seeing Vision desperately try to get them help even as he’s being ripped apart is the perfect example of just how selfless the character is.

Monica

Monica Rambeau wears a containment suit without the helmet as she prepares to enter The Hex in WandaVision.

Even when she was introduced in Captain Marvel, it was clear that Monica was going to grow up to be a hero like her mother and Carol. Throughout WandaVision, Monica repeatedly put her own safety on the line to protect others. She broke back through the Hex, even after Wanda forcefully took control of her mind, to warn her about Hayward and his plans to attack.

She also jumped in front of the bullets that were meant for Billy and Tommy, not knowing that she would survive (thanks to her new powers). Not to mention how she was also one of the only people willing to understand what Wanda was going through. Her kind and compassionate nature make her one of the kindest individuals in the MCU.

Billy and Tommy

Billy and Tommy haven’t had many opportunities to prove themselves as heroes yet but, so far, the worst thing either of them has done is prank people on Halloween. Tommy does, however, seem to be the more mischievous out of the two and is more easily manipulated than his brother.

They both insist on staying with their mother so that she wouldn’t have to fight Agatha alone. However, that doesn’t mean that they aren’t rational – as soon as she told them to go, they listened to her and only own rejoined the fight after sensing she was in danger. Both twins have seemed to follow in their parent’s footsteps, using their powers to help take down the military that infiltrated Westview, which is a good indicator that they could end up being heroes if they ever return.

Jimmy

Jimmy Woo Ant-Man Card Trick

When he was first introduced in Ant-Man and the Wasp, Jimmy was established as someone who liked to go by the book. Since he loved to stick by the rules, many initially aligned him as the antagonist since Jimmy was responsible for making sure Scott Lang remained under house arrest after escaping the raft in Captain America: Civil War. In addition, he also tried to apprehend Hank Pym and Hope van Dyne for breaking the Sokovia Accords.

However, in this series, the fans’ opinions changed when they saw him become a necessary voice of reason as he constantly defended Wanda from Hayward’s numerous attempts to paint her in a bad light. He was ultimately the reason Hayward was arrested due to him making a call to his friends at the FBI.

Darcy

WandaVision Episode 4 - Darcy

While this wasn’t Darcy’s first time saving the world since she worked with Thor before, she was much more important in this series. She even blew her cover and ran over in an attempt to help Vision when he was being torn apart for trying to leave the Hex and was almost immediately handcuffed by SWORD, resulting in her getting trapped on the inside when it expanded.

She even tried to assist Vision in getting back to his family after he woke her up while also trying to fill in the gaps in his memory. She was instrumental in stopping Hayward by revealing his plan to resurrect Vision and in restaining him for the FBI by ramming his humvee with a food truck.

Wanda

Scarlet Witch uses her powers in WandaVision.

It’s hard to forget that, along with her brother, Wanda started off as a villain as she inadvertently aligned herself with HYDRA to get back at Tony Stark. She only really became a hero after learning the robot’s plan for destroying all life on Earth, causing her to betray him and become a member of the Avengers.

However, Wanda’s heroic journey hasn’t been easy. Long after Wanda became recognized as a member of the team, fans saw her make several mistakes. She accidentally caused the deaths of several citizens in Lagos, Nigeria while on a mission with the team and, most recently, took over an entire town, forcing feelings of grief on them while also holding them against their will. While these incidents have been described as “accidental,” it doesn’t change how much of a threat she is or the pain she has caused.

Hayward

WandaVision Episode 8 Post Credits Scene Hayward

Early on, it was obvious that SWORD director, Tyler Hayward, was going to be a character that fans would love to hate. While his intentions of saving the people seemed to be in the right place, his methods were too extreme for him to be considered good. Not only did he lie to Monica and the other agents about Wanda taking the Vision’s body, he intentionally showed Wanda the body with the goal of provoking a response.

He also sent in an armed drone in an attempt to kill her but then used the energy he collected from that to resurrect the Vision before sending him inside to kill her. He pretty much cemented his place as the villain when he didn’t even hesitate to shoot at the twins, who are just children.

Agatha

Agatha Harkness WandaVision MCU

Agatha originally made it seem like she was an ally to Wanda when the sitcom reality was still in full effect, constantly popping over to provide whatever she and her family needed. She even comes over and offers to help Wanda by watching her children while she takes a day to relax. Unfortunately, she would soon admit her true agenda, revealing that she was really a powerful witch that wanted Wanda’s magic for herself.

She then confirmed that she was behind everything that happened in Westview, including killing Sparky. Agatha would attempt to manipulate Wanda into giving up her powers, making her one of the evilest and most dangerous villains in the MCU so far.
