WandaVision Meets I Love Lucy: 5 Couples That Would Work (& 5 That Wouldn’t)

WandaVision Meets I Love Lucy: 5 Couples That Would Work (& 5 That Wouldn’t)

Both WandaVision and I Love Lucy carry their own unique casts of characters. Each character is very different from one another on both series, and it makes for fun character dynamics. It’d be interesting to consider how characters from both shows would interact with one another and whether or not they would make a good couple.

Ricky and Vision may be good for one another, but Fred and Darcy would probably be another story, for example. In any case, some couples work, and some don’t for a multitude of reasons.

Would Work: Ricky & Vision

Under different circumstances, Ricky and Vision would have made good significant others for one another. Ricky is a performer and wishes for Lucy to be content as a housewife; with Vision, he would probably get what he wanted, as Vision is more easygoing, and in WandaVision, Vision is content with a simple work and family life. Ricky and Vision would provide a balance for one another, and they’d undoubtedly be happy together.

Wouldn’t Work: Fred & Monica

I Love Lucy's Fred and WandaVision's Monica

Fred is cantankerous and probably too old-fashioned for Monica, who wouldn’t have the patience needed to be with him. Likewise, Fred wouldn’t appreciate Monica’s ambitious nature or her independence. These two wouldn’t be the best pairing in the universe; in fact, they probably wouldn’t even hit it off as friends. They’re just too opposite, and better left separate.

Would Work: Ricky & Wanda

Ricky doesn’t like it when Lucy fails to act as a typical housewife, but he loves her anyway. WandaVision shows Wanda yearning for and happily engaging with a home life in the suburbs. Though Wanda is a former Avenger and has powers, she obviously wants to settle down, and she would probably be content with being a housewife to Ricky, who would happily love the redheaded Avenger.

Wanda may slip up from time to time, but Ricky would have patience for her, just as he does with Lucy.

Wouldn’t Work: Ethel & Vision

I Love Lucy's Ethel and WandaVision's Vision

As seen in WandaVision, Vision is happy with his life. He is content to be a simple working man, married to the love of his life, Wanda, and raising twin sons with her. He wants a normal life, and Ethel could certainly give that to him.

However, the potentially big hiccup in their relationship is the fact that Ethel might not be okay with Vision’s past as an Avenger, or the fact that he has powers. It might be too much for her to handle, and Vision in turn may worry about his past catching up to him and having Ethel potentially in the crossfire, so this would likely put an end to their relationship before it even began.

Would Work: Ethel & Woo

I Love Lucy's Ethel and WandaVision's Jimmy Woo

Agent Jimmy Woo is a happy, easygoing guy. He likes his job, he’s a good man, and he’s a positive thinker. This would fare well for Ethel, who’s on the cheery side, and who would happily support Woo’s ambitions.

The two of them together would live a happy life together, and would definitely see sunshine before the rain, making them good influences to those around them. Ethel would be content no matter what kind of life they had and vice versa; their personalities would be a good match.

Wouldn’t Work: Fred & Darcy

I Love Lucy's Fred and WandaVision's Darcy

Fred is a no-nonsense type of a guy, and he’s not above giving Ethel a hard time. Darcy is super smart, and she wouldn’t put up with Fred’s old-fashioned ideas of a wife. These two together would certainly combust; they would dish out insults to each other constantly, and they’d simply make each other miserable.

They wouldn’t be able to find much common ground, if at all; a relationship between Fred and Darcy is just not meant to be.

Would Work: Lucy & Wanda

I Love Lucy's Lucy Ricardo and WandaVision's Wanda

Lucy yearns for excitement. As a result, Lucy can sometimes get carried away with her schemes and throw all logic out the window. Wanda wants the simple life, but she too has her moments where she loses control, especially when she carelessly uses her powers in front of Agnes, for example.

Lucy would be drawn to Wanda from the get-go given Wanda’s powers and unusual background, and Wanda would probably find Lucy’s unconventional personality interesting too. These two redheads would be a force to be reckoned with, and they’d be great together.

Wouldn’t Work: Ricky & Monica

I Love Lucy's Ricky Ricardo and WandaVision's Monica

Ricky is old-fashioned, given the time period in which he grew up, and thus it would clash majorly with Monica. Monica is ambitious, and a career woman. She’s already accomplished a lot in her life, and after returning following the blip, she gets right back to work. She is strong and stubborn, and wouldn’t acquiesce to Ricky’s desire that she be a regular housewife.

Ricky, meanwhile, wouldn’t be happy with a wife that he felt was too ambitious and that would probably refrain from acting a certain way, so he and Monica together wouldn’t be the best idea.

Would Work: Fred & Agnes

I Love Lucy's Fred and WandaVision's Agnes

Fred’s wife Ethel is very similar to Agnes (Kathryn Hahn) from WandaVision. Both Agnes and Ethel complain about their husbands, and both have a tendency to be a little too nosy, as they invest themselves more in the lives of their neighbors than they should.

Considering their similar personalities, there’s no reason why there wouldn’t be a similar dynamic between Fred and Agnes if they were together; it may not be a perfect relationship, but it would be stable and have a long-lasting love.

Wouldn’t Work: Lucy & Darcy

I Love Lucy's Lucy Ricardo and Darcy from the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Lucy gets all kinds of ideas, but she doesn’t necessarily think them through. She just embarks on whatever idea she has and deals with consequences later. Her tendency to not think things through would probably annoy Darcy to no end.

Darcy is more practical and logical, and she’s wicked smart as an astrophysicist. She’d be the first to tell Lucy that her scheme probably wouldn’t work, and she’d probably catch Lucy more often than not, which would annoy Lucy. These two together is a nice idea, but it just wouldn’t work out.
