Walking Dead: Norman Reedus Says He’ll Burn Down The Show If Daryl Dies

It sounds like Norman Reedus doesn’t want Daryl dying anytime soon on The Walking Dead. The long-running zombie drama is currently in its 10th season. The Walking Dead has featured a massive roster of characters. Many have died since the show’s first season, but a couple have survived. One of them is Daryl Dixon.

Daryl has remained one of the most popular characters on the show. His crossbow and demeanor have become engrained in popular culture. After Andrew Lincoln left the show in season 9, Reedus received top billing and continues to this day. Daryl is one of those characters many fans dub “untouchable,” someone who won’t be killed off. So far, this has proven true. Still, Daryl came close to death in the recent episode, “Stalker.” A battle with Alpha leaves Daryl in critical condition. If it weren’t for Lydia, Daryl would have likely been the latest casualty. Fans of the character will be pleased to know Reedus doesn’t want Daryl to pass on anytime soon.

Norman Reedus recently sat down with Conan O’Brien (via Team Coco), discussing Daryl on The Walking Dead. As Conan tells Reedus, the talk show host has interviewed various actors from the show, before and after their characters’ deaths. Conan comments on Daryl staying alive all these years, with Reedus saying, “I don’t know how that happens.” Conan then asks Daryl how he would feel if the producers one day told him the next episode would be his last. Reedus’ response is simply, “I’ll burn down that building.”

Walking Dead: Norman Reedus Says He’ll Burn Down The Show If Daryl Dies

If The Walking Dead ever loses Daryl, the ratings could take a hit. The show lost Andrew Lincoln, and Danai Gurira is leaving this season. If Daryl were to go, that would leave Carol as the only surviving season 1 character. It seems probable Daryl will live on to the show’s end, but time will tell. Currently, Daryl is helping Hilltop contend with Alpha’s assault.

There are a lot of variables for The Walking Dead’s future. The Whisperer War is the primary conflict currently, but it seems seeds are being planted for the Commonwealth storyline. Commonwealth was the final comic book arc of The Walking Dead, so it’s unknown if the show will go beyond it, or end there as well. One thing that is confirmed is Maggie’s return for season 11. Hopefully, Reedus’ Daryl is there to welcome her back with open arms.
