VPR: What Stassi Schroeder Learned About Racism Before 1st Post-Firing Interview

Former Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder just conducted her first post-firing interview with Tamron Hall. Before appearing in front of the public, Stassi expressed that she wanted to become more enlightened on the systemic racism that runs throughout the United States.

Stassi, who is currently pregnant with her first child, made some racist remarks that came to the public’s attention. Her and costar Kristen Doute were fired from Vanderpump Rules in June after their former costar, Faith Stower, accused the women of calling the police on her for a crime she did not commit. Stassi apologized for her actions, but now it seems she is actually learning from those mistakes.

After her firing, Stassi practically disappeared from the public eye. According to Us Weekly, in her time away, Stassi was putting in the work to learn more about systemic racism and how it has become a problem in the United States. “Leading up to her Tamron [Hall Show] interview, Stassi has been spending a lot of time learning about bias and systemic racism and has really been doing the work,” a source close to Schroeder said. The reality star wanted to discuss with Tamron Hall what she learned from this situation. The source continued, “Rather than focus on cancel culture, she decided to be accountable for her actions and genuinely try to understand the issues and how she can be more conscious and in tune with what the Black community has been going through. She’s looking forward to talking about what she has learned.” It seems the soon-to-be mother no longer wants to be ignorant and unaware of the injustices black people face across the world.

The author of Next Level Basic promised to “continue to take accountability” for her past remarks. Stassi posted a lengthy apology in an Instagram statement when she was first let go by Bravo. Her apology read, “I have grown significantly from the person I was then, and I am still filled with remorse and regret for the hurt I caused.”  The author was extremely apologetic to Faith and directly spoke to her, saying, “I also want to address my former castmate, Faith Stowers … I did not recognize then the serious ramifications that could have transpired because of my actions. What I did to Faith was wrong. I apologize and I do not expect forgiveness.” Since this Instagram post, Stassi stayed pretty silent on social media. The reality star only shared once to Instagram, posting a photo of her and fiancé Beau Clark, simultaneously announcing she was pregnant and the gender of their child. Hopefully, her silence was a true indication that she was reflecting on her past remarks.

Stassi does seem to be taking her racist comments seriously, and isn’t trying to slide this incident under the rug. What’s it’s unclear what kind of work Stassi did to learn about racism, it’s evident she focused on the broader, systemic issue that the Black Lives Matter movement seeks to address. She also learned about bias and the various injustices Black people face on a daily basis, which should inform her actions in the future.
