Voight’s Chicago PD Season 11 Story After Devastating Episode 7 Twist Teased By Star

Voight’s Chicago PD Season 11 Story After Devastating Episode 7 Twist Teased By Star

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Chicago PD season 11, episode 7.

Jason Beghe comments on what’s next for Hank Voight after his devastating tragedy twist in Chicago PD season 11. The Intelligence leader has seen his fair share of losses in his life. He has lost his wife and son, as well as friends and close confidantes. Voight hasn’t met with a major heartbreak in a while, but that changes when he accidentally stumbles on an abduction of a teenager that turns out to be more sinister than he initially thought.

Speaking with THR on the heels of the death of Noah in Chicago PD season 11, episode 7, “The Living And The Dead,” Beghe teases how Voight moves forward with what he sees as a failure on his part. From the moment he saw the victim’s abduction and discovery of his situation, the Intelligence leader has been invested in solving his case. With Noah dead, Beghe says that the events will bring back classic Voight. Read his full quote below:

At this point, he will do the best that he can do. I’ve only played that one moment, which is the discovery, the last moment of the episode seven, and the reaction that Voight has is obviously the initial loss. But it’s too much. He’s also expecting it at that point. And he kind of reverts back to his safe response which is, “I’m gonna rip your throat out!” So, we will see going forward how much he’s going to be able to allow his feelings, and how much he is going to stay at this kind of savage, more animalistic Voight, which is a very compelling guy, too.

What The Return Of Classic Voight Means For Chicago PD Season 11

It is no secret that Voight has mellowed over the years. This change is partly due to his changing views and the writers’ attempt to carefully tread such a gray character amid the widespread police brutality in the country. That being said, Chicago PD’s best storytelling comes when Intelligence is tested morally. However, instead of leaning into this internal conflict, One Chicago has opted to shy away from these complicated cases, opting for more straightforward and, at times, boring cases. With Voight seeing red again, they can bring back these types of arcs, and do them in a better way.

With Hailey Upton’s impending departure from Intelligence, however, it’s curious what the rest of the team will do to back up their leader. Voight has established a brutal image in Chicago, although those who know him the best are aware that his flaw is his commitment to serving justice. Before Jay Halstead’s Chicago PD departure, making sure that Voight was in line was his responsibility. Prior to him, Antonio Dawson played that part. With an increasingly smaller team, it’s interesting to see if there’s anyone who will fill that spot after Upton’s exit.

Only Voight Can Fix Chicago PD Season 10’s Failures

Chicago PD season 10 is in a rut, and Hank Voight is the only character who can fix its failures before the show is no longer salvageable.

Now, Chicago PD season 11 has a big challenge in front of them when tackling Voight’s arc moving forward. One Chicago can’t simply bring back the original version of the character. Not only will it undo all his development over the years, but it also risks backlash in light of the brutal policing problem in the U.S. However, if NBC and Wolf Entertainment do this arc right, it may very well save the show after Chicago PD season 10’s failures.
