Vision Quest Can Set Up 1 Unusual MCU Superhero Team

Vision Quest Can Set Up 1 Unusual MCU Superhero Team

One of Marvel’s newest superhero teams could be set up in the MCU if the WandaVision spinoff, Vision Quest, debuts one particular character. Kicking off Phase 4 and the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, WandaVision set up many new storylines for the MCU, including the upcoming Disney+ series, Agatha: Coven of Chaos, and now it’s been reported that a Vision Quest series is in development. This would continue with the story of White Vision, who was last seen having his memories at least partially restored in Westview, before flying off to locations unknown. Speculation is rising about this series, which could create the opportunity for further MCU adventures.

WandaVision introduced SWORD to the MCU, the Sentient Weapon Observation and Response Division, the organization that took custody of the Vision’s body after his death at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Their nefarious purposes for this were initially kept hidden, but it was soon revealed that SWORD, led by Tyler Hayward, had reassembled and reactivated the Vision’s body, now with an all-white appearance, and with no memories or emotion. While this version of the Vision was left a mystery at the end of WandaVision, Marvel Studios can now answer some burning questions, while also setting up one of Marvel Comics’ more recent superhero teams.

Who Are Marvel’s Champions? Comic History Explained

Vision Quest Can Set Up 1 Unusual MCU Superhero Team

The Champions are a team of teenage superheroes who first came together during 2016’s Champions Vol. 2 #1, formed after Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), Spider-Man (Miles Morales), and Nova (Sam Alexander) grew disillusioned with the behavior of the older Avengers in the wake of the second superhuman Civil War. The young team set out to rebuild a positive reputation for superheroes, recruiting others with similar ideals including the new Hulk, and Vision’s own daughter, Vivian “Viv” Vision. Using social media, the Champions quickly made a name for themselves, hoping to build a better future through hope, not unjust force.

During 2017’s Secret Empire storyline, which reveals Captain America to be a HYDRA sleeper agent, the Champions played a large role in the battle against HYDRA, joining the Underground and training in the Red Room with Black Widow. They also had a big role in the Infinity Countdown storyline, which saw them start to grow in number and acquire a global reach. While the Champions haven’t yet been mentioned in the MCU, several of the team’s members have already made appearances, so the opportunity for this Young Avengers-style team-up is possible.

Vision Quest Could See Vision Making His Own Family

A lot of Marvel Comics’ Vision Quest storyline has already been used to flesh out the story of WandaVision, so it’s unlikely that these moments will be recycled. Instead, Vision Quest is being set up to continue the story of the new White Vision, rediscovering who he is after being killed and reactivated. This could see Marvel Studios adapt a more recent comic storyline, which saw the Vision move to Fairfax, Virginia, and build his own synthezoid family in lieu of a life with Wanda Maximoff, aka the Scarlet Witch. In fact, he based the design of his wife, Virginia, off of Wanda’s own saved brain patterns.

As well as creating a wife for himself, based on the Scarlet Witch, Vision also creates a son, Vin, and a daughter, Viv, who are created from an amalgamation of Wanda’s brain patterns and his own. To see this storyline play out in the MCU would be the perfect way to mirror the events of WandaVision, which saw Wanda create a family for herself out of her immense grief. Debuting “the Visions” in the MCU would also open the door for some important storylines going forward, including a potential team-up of Marvel’s Champions, as Viv Vision is a founding member of the young team.

Other Champions Members Have Recently Debuted In The MCU

As well as Kamala Khan debuting in her solo Disney+ series, Ms. Marvel, several other members of the Champions have made appearances in the MCU, or are set to in upcoming projects. Although the MCU’s Nova project is set to introduce Richard Rider, this upcoming Special Presentation could also debut Sam Alexander, and there is speculation that the MCU’s next Spider-Man trilogy could debut Miles Morales, who might take the reins from Peter Parker. This would mean that the three founding members of the Champions would be established in the MCU, alongside Viv Vision who could potentially be debuting in Vision Quest.

While it’s the Amadeus Cho version of the Hulk who takes his place on the team, this could easily be a role gifted to Skaar, Bruce Banner’s son who debuted in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. As well as him, Riri Williams, aka Ironheart, and Joaquin Torres, aka Falcon, are both set to have larger parts in the MCU, and have both been active members of the Champions. Though many other young heroes could be introduced in the MCU’s version of the Champions, the foundations are already being laid for the team’s eventual formation, something which could even help to boost the MCU’s introduction of mutants.

Champions Can Bring More Mutants Into The MCU

Over their career in Marvel Comics, many of the Champions’ roster has included young mutants, most notably featuring a time-displaced Scott Summers, aka Cyclops, as a founding member. Other mutants on the team include Dust, Prodigy, and Scout, formerly known as Honey Badger, but the prospect of a Champions team-up introducing a younger version of one of the X-Men is very exciting for the future of the MCU. This is even more impactful now that the MCU has revealed Kamala Khan to be a mutant, instead of her Inhuman comic origins, so the Champions could set the stage for a fully mutant team in the MCU.

If Vision Quest shows the White Vision building his own synthezoid family, including Viv Vision, the door could be open for Marvel Studios to build up the eventual team-up of the Champions. This would not only perfectly advance the story of White Vision after his brief appearance in WandaVision, but would also help with the interconnectivity issues expressed about Phase 4 projects, as WandaVision would not only have led into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but also Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Vision Quest, and the potential future team of the Champions. It’s not yet confirmed when Vision Quest will release.
