Vince Vaughn’s Serial Killer Swaps Body With Teen Girl In Freaky Trailer

The lighthearted classic Freaky Friday is getting a dark makeover from Blumhouse Productions (Happy Death Day, Paranormal Activity) in their new teen slasher film Freaky.  Freaky Friday was a 1972 children’s book that tells the story of a mother and daughter who swap bodies after wishing for the apparent better life of the other. The story has been adapted to screen several times, most notably in 2003 with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan.

From Blumhouse, Freaky stars Kathryn Newton (Big Little Lies) as the quiet and unpopular teen Millie and Vince Vaughn (Brawl In Cell Block 99) as a local serial killer, The Blissfield Butcher. After being attacked by the Butcher and stabbed by a magical dagger, rather than dying at the hands of the killer, Millie wakes up to the horrifying realization her consciousness is now in the killer’s body. She learns she has 24 hours to reverse this, or it becomes permanent, while the killer, now disguised as Millie, realizes how easy a killing spree could be with Millie’s classmates unaware of what has happened

Freaky is written by Christopher Landon and Michael Kennedy and is produced by Blumhouse Productions in association with Divide/Conquer. The executive producers are Couper Samuelson and Jeanette Volturno. Along with Newton and Vaughn, the film also stars Celeste O’Connor, Misha Osherovich, Uriah Shelton, Dana Drori, Katie Finneran, and Alan Ruck. Blumhouse fans will recognize Newton for her role as Alex in the fourth Paranormal Activity film. Freaky will be released in cinemas by Universal in November, on Friday the 13th.
