Venom’s Arsenal Makes Batman’s Utility Belt Look Pathetic

Venom’s Arsenal Makes Batman’s Utility Belt Look Pathetic

DC’s Batman is known for his extensive use of gadgets in his fight against crime, with many of these being stored on his famous utility belt – however, a recent issue of Venom showed that Marvel’s anti-heroic symbiote carries his own arsenal, one that makes Batman’s utility belt look like a joke.

Venom #6 –by Donny Cates, Ryan Stegman, JP Mayer, Frank Martin, and Clayton Cowles – finds Venom preparing for his second encounter with Knull, the King in Black. In order to battle the God-like being, Venom stocks up on all the anti-symbiote weaponry that has been stockpiled in the Marvel Universe over the years.

Equipping himself with things like sonic grenades and energy rifles, Eddie Brock prepares for his greatest fight yet. What makes this so effective isn’t just the weaponry, but the way Brock is able to utilize it.

At this point in the story, Eddie Brock is host to both the Venom symbiote and the Rex symbiote. This means Eddie is able to act with the functionality of three beings, with each one operating different weapons at the same time. Venom is one of the most powerful characters in Marvel, precisely because he doesn’t have to worry about making every decision himself – in contrast to Batman, for example. No matter what Batman goes up against, he almost always has something in his iconic utility belt to take his opponent down. This has been shown countless times, with Batman carrying around everything from a Kryptonite shard to Bat-Shark Repellent.

One of the major downfalls of the iconic utility belt is Batman being the only one who can use it. If Batman’s in a dangerous situation, he has to rely on his own reflexes, and decision-making, to pull whatever he needs out and use it against his enemy. Venom’s way of handling things completely bypasses these weaknesses, as is shown when Eddie fights the Grendal directly; using his own physical strength and decision-making to evade, the Rex symbiote is operating the weaponry. During the battle Rex, independently of Eddie, grabs and arms several sonic grenades tossing them into the Grendal’s mouth, which Eddie holds open, demonstrating what truly separates Eddie from other gadget-using heroes.

Venom Is A Literal One Man Team

There are many benefits to being the host of a symbiote; they grant the user increased healing, strength, and agility, and remove the need for things like hunger or sleep. One of the absolute biggest benefits of using a symbiote, thoughm is without a doubt the ability to work in perfect tandem with another being. Eddie Brock doesn’t have to make decisions on his own in the middle of a battle, not with the help of his symbiotes, and this teamwork only becomes more absurd with the introduction of gadgets. This is why Venom could be one of Marvel’s greatest gadget-using heroes, putting DC’s Batman to shame.
