Vanderpump Rules: Tom Sandoval Opens Up About His New Cover Band

Tom Sandoval from Vanderpump Rules revealed that he is joining a new cover band. While fans of the Bravo series know Tom as a bartender turned bar owner, his first love was always acting and music. Tom put his dreams on the back burner as he was focusing on his growing businesses, a cocktail book her created with his partner and VPR costar Ariana Madix, and his role on the infamous reality TV show.

With the COVID-19 pandemic putting many projects of Tom’s on hold, he clearly decided to put more of his energy into music. Last Christmas, Tom even joined some Food Network stars for a Christmas song, where he sang and played the trumpet. As a result, Tom realized how much he missed making music and decided to revive that part of his career. Now Tom is ready to create some music for the VPR fans.

Tom spoke with Page Six earlier this week about his love for music after his performance Sunday night with his new nine-piece cover band, Tom Sandoval & the Most Extras, in front of a large crowd at Hollywood’s Hotel Café. Tom, who wants Lisa to return to RHOBH, talked about his passion for singing and how he hopes for a shot in the music industry despite his reality television career. “When I first started out on ‘Vanderpump Rules,’ I thought I might have ruined my chances of getting into music or even acting,” the 38-year-old admitted. “I thought, ‘People aren’t going to take you seriously, you’re just a reality person.’ But what I have found is that the show has honestly been an amazing platform to do really anything.” Tom now believes the “reality TV stigma” is an outdated concept and is confident the music executive in Hollywood will take him seriously as a musician.

Tom’s current band ensemble marks as the reality stars fourth band he created since getting into music. VPR fans have seen some of Tom’s musical pursuits play out over the years play out on their screens. Who could forget his infamous song with Charles McMansion, ‘Touch In Public’? Nonetheless, Tom, who had a movie role, says his current musical endeavors are much more “authentic” to himself, which allows him to take part in his love for all things retro. During the concert, Tom and his band treated the crowd to a 20-song setlist that spanned over several decades. Some of the songs including, George Michael’s ‘Freedom,’ Deee-Lite’s ‘Groove Is in the Heart,’ DNCE’s ‘Cake by the Ocean,’ and more. Even though Tom was a little nervous before hitting the stage, he felt more at ease knowing Ariana and his pal Tom Schwartz were in the audience. The band is set to perform again in the new year on January 15at the Canyon Club in Los Angeles, along with the possibility of releasing a full-length album of covers.

Tom is more in his element now that he is exploring a career in the music industry. If all goes well, Tom could be showcasing his talents on the next season of Vanderpump Rules.
