Scheana Shay’s wedding reunited Vanderpump Rules co-stars Tom Schwartz and Raquel Leviss, and the pair reportedly took their relationship to a new level. Vanderpump Rules season 9 marked the end of an era for both Tom and Raquel. Raquel broke up with long-time boyfriend James Kennedy despite getting engaged early in season 9. Meanwhile, Tom announced his divorce from Katie Maloney after season 9 wrapped. While at first it was only rumored that Raquel and Tom were getting cozy at Scheana and Brock Davies’ wedding, it’s starting to look like things got steamier.
Raquel and Tom are some of the more submissive and low-key members of the Vanderpump Rules Scooby-Doo gang. The cast regularly roasts Tom for submitting to his business partner Tom Sandoval’s every whim. Their new bar, Schwartz and Sandy’s, was Sandoval’s idea which he steamrolled over Schwartz. Similarly, Raquel grew exhausted over time from dealing with James’ erratic behavior and domineering personality. Tom and Raquel were both encouraged to stand up for themselves on many occasions, with their friends defending them frequently. Tom tended to neglect his relationship with Katie in the process while Raquel eventually split with James.
Considering that Tom and Raquel both embody sad puppy energy, it’s not entirely surprising that the two might forge a connection, especially where liquor and a good party are involved. As far as viewers could tell, Tom and Raquel were never particularly close before, but they recognized each other as kind souls. Raquel and Tom were getting cozy at the wedding, but then rumors started swirling that the pair made out and may have taken things further after some heavy drinking.
It seems entirely plausible, considering anything can happen at a wedding where a lot of drinking is involved. Compounding the rumors was Katie’s absence from the wedding despite joining her friends in Cancun. After returning to Los Angeles, Katie wrote on her Instagram story, “So happy to be home. My face says it all, but for real, back in my safe place feels gooooood.” . Katie’s been outspoken about political issues and focused on her personal growth since the split. However, the post definitely makes it seem like something that might have ruffled Katie’s feathers went down.
It seems like Katie and Tom are in a good place on many levels. However, if Raquel and Tom did get intimate in one form or another, it’s understandable that it could still sting for Katie. Vanderpump Rules fans may not have seen a Tom and Raquel romance coming, but time will tell if there’s truth to the gossip and if it’s a relationship that could go the distance.
