Vanderpump Rules: 10 Questions Fans Have About Season 9

Vanderpump Rules: 10 Questions Fans Have About Season 9

In 2013, Bravo released a Real Housewives of Beverly Hills spinoff called Vanderpump Rules. The series followed the workers of Lisa Vanderpump’s restaurant SUR, and it turned out to be a massive success. Recently, it was announced that a ninth season is in the works.

However, due to controversies within the cast, Bravo dropped Stassi Schroder (and her husband Beau) and Kristen Doute from VPR. Jax and Brittany Cartright have also said they would not be returning to the series, which begs the question if the show will be introducing new faces or not. Regardless of what Bravo intends to do, VPR is bound to bring the drama back to West Hollywood.

Who’s Coming Back?

Vanderpump Rules: 10 Questions Fans Have About Season 9

Vanderpump Rules has shaken up the cast on more than one occasion but it’s been relatively the same due to the friendship the cast has with each other. In April, it was confirmed that along with Lisa Vanderpump, both Toms, Katie Maloney-Schwartz, Ariana Madix, Scheana Shay, Raquel Leviss, Lala Kent, and James Kennedy are all coming back. However, with most of the cast moved on from SUR, it’ll be interesting to see how the restaurant comes into play in the series.

When Is It Airing?

Due to COVD-19, Vanderpump Rules wasn’t able to film because restaurants were shut down. With a show based around the restaurant and bar industry, production was at a standstill. Now that things are changing in West Hollywood, Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR is open and ready for business, which means Vanderpump Rules is now in session.

In May, Ariana posted a selfie from her confessional, meaning that the show is currently filming or wrapping up. Hollywood Life assumes VPR is set to launch later this year or early in 2022. Fans who need to catch up on season 8 can listen to a plethora of recap podcasts to get a refresher course before the series drops.

Will Some Of The OGs Make An Appearance?

The original cast of VPR consisted of Katie Maloney-Schwartz, Scheana Shay, Kristen Doute, Tom Sandoval, Jax Taylor, and Stassi Schroeder (Tom Schwartz was a reoccurring guest in seasons 1 and 2 before becoming full time). Season 9 will only feature three members of the original cast, which has fans wondering if the likes of Jax and Stassi will be making appearances throughout the series. It seems unlikely due to Stassi and Jax’s firing but it’s the group’s decades-long friendship that makes the show so enticing. It’s hard to know if the show will be as entertaining without core members of the group.

Will Season 9 Lead To A TomTom Spinoff?

Fans were shocked that a ninth season of VPR was coming to Bravo due to the controversies swirling around the cast. However, it seems like Bravo is making it work… for now. It wouldn’t be too surprising if season 9 was the show’s last season and it led to a spinoff for TomTom.

TomTom is another one of Lisa Vanderpump’s establishments run by Tom Sandoval and Tom Schwartz. In season 8 of VPR, viewers were introduced to a few of TomTom’s bartenders, which is the perfect start to a spinoff.

Why Aren’t Any Of Season 8’s Newbies Coming Back?

In season 8, VPR had new faces mingling with the veterans. TomTom’s Dayna Kathan and Max Boyens made their way to SUR, as did newbies Brett Caprioni, Charli Burnett, and Danica Dow. However, it looks like none of those fresh faces are coming back for season 9. While they were entertaining and mingled nicely with the group, the shakeup didn’t sit well with fans.

On Instagram, Dayna told a fan that she wasn’t coming back but it’s not known why. Some clarity on their fate would be nice for Bravo fans.

And Who Are The New Castmates?

In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Lisa Vanderpump admitted that the show would have new faces. “There are new cast members. It’s really up to people that want to be front and center,” she remarked.

As of this publishing, there hasn’t been word on who the new faces would be, but it would be interesting if LVP made a connection between VPR and her new show on Peacock, Vanderpump Dogs.

Will VPR Be Entertaining Without The Entire Cast?

The severity of Stassi and Kristen’s actions justified their firing. But considering they’ve been a part of the show for eight years, season 9 is going to look strange without them. When Katie spoke to Entertainment Tonight before the show was picked up for a ninth season, she admitted how strange it was going to be without her friends present.

“I try to picture and think about it, and it’s so weird,” she noted. She continued saying “It’s weird. Yes, it’s definitely gonna feel different and look different, but it’s not like they’re not a part of my life, you know?”

Part of what makes VPR so entertaining is the group’s connection and season 9 could prove that the show has run its course.

Will Scheana And Lala’s Pregnancy/Relationships Be Documented?

Scheana, Lala, Stassi, and Brittany all got pregnant around the same time. Before Vanderpump Rules was given a ninth season, fans predicted that Bravo would create a makeshift spinoff of all the Vanderpump babies. Seeing the three women going through pregnancy ups and downs would make them more relatable for viewers in similar positions. It’s also a side to the ladies that fans have never seen before. However, the spinoff was never given the green light. Now that the ladies have all had their babies, fans are hoping their journeys have been documented on screen.

Also… What’s Going On Between Scheana And Lala?

Speaking of Scheana and Lala, it appears another rift is going on between the two friends. Their friendship has always had its highs and lows, but it all came to a head in December of 2020. Scheana had issues with Lala for not supporting her after her miscarriage and the two began dragging each other’s name through podcasts and social media. But now that the ladies had their babies, the two seem to be on the mend as they’re bonding over motherhood. However, more information on their rift should be clarified this season.

A Bachelor X VPR Crossover Possibility

After Lisa Vanderpump noted that there would be new faces this season without giving names, it was rumored that The Bachelor‘s Jasmine Goode could be in the running. Goode began working at SUR before the lockdown and is said to still be there. She’s also already friends with Scheana, which means she has a history with a few of the castmates already.
