With the Fall 2024 Anime Season still a long way to go for fans, this new content is the perfect way to keep the community on the edge of their seats in the months to come – and allows for plenty of time to examine every small detail shown throughout the new content.

The Eccentric Supernatural Shonen Is One Of 2024’s Most Highly Anticipated Anime

Produced by Science Saru; based on the original manga by Yukinobu Tatsu

Based on the original manga of the same name, Dandadan‘s opening moments may make it seem like a standard supernatural shonen, but Yukinobu Tatsu – who previously worked as an assistant under Chainsaw Man‘s Tatsuki Fujimoto – quickly subverted reader expectations with the direction he decided to take the series, instantly making Dandadan one of the most unique manga currently available on the Shonen Jump + platform. The series follows Momo Ayase – a girl who believes in ghosts, but not aliens – and Ken Takakura – a boy who believes in aliens, but not ghosts – who decide to make a bet to see who is correct. As it turns out, both of them are correct, leading Ken to get cursed by the “Turbo Grandma” ghost. From then on, Momo and Ken must work together to fix all the supernatural madness around them, and attempt to get back to living normal lives.

In addition to the trailer giving an in-depth look at the exciting visuals going into this opening arc, Science Saru has also provided additional staff information, including a number of names that have made fans of Dandadan even more excited about the upcoming adaptation. As originally announced during Jump Festa, Fuga Yamashiro, who was the assistant director on INU-OH and has previously worked on storyboards for Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!, will be directing the series with Hiroshi Seko, best known for working on series composition for Attack on Titan and Jujutsu Kaisen, working on series composition and script writing. Dandadan‘s original soundtrack will be composed by none other than Kensuke Ushio, best known for his work on Chainsaw Man, Devilman Crybaby, and Ping Pong the Animation.

Dandadan will begin airing in October 2024 during the Fall anime season, and will be available on both Crunchyroll and Netflix. In the meantime, fans can get caught up with the manga, available through Viz Media and Shonen Jump.
