Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Brings Thief’s End & Lost Legacy to PS5

Announced at PlayStation Showcase 2021, the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves collection will bring Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy to PlayStation 5 and PC. Naughty Dog’s action adventure titles put players in the shoes of archaeologist action hero Nathan Drake. Recent rumors of an Uncharted collection have turned out to be true, although the upcoming release will only include the franchise’s two most recent releases rather than all five titles.

The first title in the Uncharted series released in 2007, and the games very quickly became a staple of Sony’s exclusive PlayStation lineup. The games put an emphasis on exploration and adventure, with protagonist Nathan Drake serving as a lovable hero for players to rally behind. A variety of exotic locations, including ancient tombs and vast jungles, were able to properly convey the feeling of a classic adventure film. Rumors of a new Uncharted title have persisted since 2017’s standalone title Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, but a spin-off game was reportedly cancelled after being developed by Bend Studio.

During PlayStation Showcase 2021, the Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection was announced by PlayStation via YouTube. The collection will consist of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, with both titles being remastered for PlayStation 5 and PC. This will be the first time that Uncharted games are released outside of the PlayStation line of consoles, allowing a whole new audience to experience Naughty Dog’s action-adventure series. Utilizing current-generation hardware will allow the two PlayStation 4 titles to experience enhanced graphics and performance.

While the Uncharted series continues to live on through remasters, the series has also led to an even greater legacy. The director of the original Uncharted trilogy, Amy Hennig, is creating a new AAA adventure game with Skydance Media. The upcoming title will apparently feature state-of-the-art animation technology, just as the Uncharted series did in the past. The project is apparently a narrative-driven action-adventure game, a genre that also includes Hennig’s most well-known works in the Uncharted series.

Naughty Dog’s Uncharted games represent some of Sony’s greatest first-party titles, perfectly blending action gameplay and narrative experiences. The release of the franchise’s latest releases on PC is therefore quite monumental, as a whole new gamer audience will be able to experience these memorable titles. PlayStation 5 players will also be able to experience the games in a brand-new way, with current-gen hardware breathing new life into Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and The Lost Legacy.

Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection will release in early 2022 for PS5 and PC.
