Michael Cera plays Scott Pilgrim in the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off cast. Bringing the title character from the comic page to the anime screen, Cera voices Scott Pilgrim, the awkward slacker willing to do anything for the love of Ramona Flowers. Much like in the movie, Scott in the comics was a jerk to his previous exes, including cheating on his girlfriend Knives with Ramona, and he has to reevaluate his life when he has to battle Ramona’s evil exes to win her love. This causes him to deal with his own “evil” self to finally become a better person in the end.
Cera is a Canadian actor who got his start as a child actor. He enjoyed his breakout as George Michael Bluth on the TV series Arrested Development before starring in various 2000s teen movies, including Superbad and Juno. Mary Elizabeth Winstead As Ramona Flowers
Mary Elizabeth Winstead’s Scott Pilgrim Takes Off character is Ramona Flowers. Winstead returns as Ramona Flowers, the mysterious rollerblading girl of Scott’s dreams who has seven evil exes. She is willing to date Scott, but first, he has to defeat all seven in battle. The main difference between Ramona in the comics and the original Scott Pilgrim movie was that she was mostly cold and distant in live action. However, in the Scott Pilgrim comics it was explained fully how Ramona was locked inside her own head with her emotional baggage thanks to her ex Gideon zapping her with “the glow.” She also had a superpower of traveling through subspace, which Gideon wanted to use for evil.
Ramona is played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. Winstead hails from North Carolina and, before appearing in the Scott Pilgrim film adaptation, starred in the 2005 Disney superhero movie Sky High as Gwen Grayson. She then became something of a 2000s scream queen thanks to 2006’s Black Christmas, Final Destination 3, and 2007’s Death Proof. Winstead has continued to work in movies and television, including sleeper hits like 2016’s 10 Cloverfield Lane and season 3 of the Fargo TV series. She also portrayed DC Comics’ The Huntress in the 2020 movie Birds of Prey. In 2021, she starred in the Netflix movie Kate, and in 2023 starred as Hera Vullaby in Ahoska.
Kieran Culkin As Wallace Wells
Kieran Culkin joins the cast of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off as Wallace Wells. Ostensibly the voice of reason in Scott Pilgrim’s little world, Wallace is the title character’s gay roommate. In the movie, he is mostly there to deliver sarcastic quips and give Scott both a hard time and some good advice. However, in the comics, he had a lot more going into his character, including him suddenly talking to Scott at school with little warning and moving in fast to basically latching onto his friend, and was more of a mentor in the comics for Scott before his battles. . Wallace also has a psychic boyfriend in the comics named Mobile.
Like the rest of the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off cast, Kieran Culkin is reprising his role of Wallace Wells after playing him in live-action. The younger brother of famed child star Macaulay Culkin, Kieran Culkin’s first role came alongside his starring sibling in 1990 in Home Alone as Fuller McCallister. Culkin continued his career as a child star until 2002’s Igby Goes Down showed his true acting potential. Following a hiatus from the industry, Culkin found his greatest success in television: he’s a three-time Emmy nominee and Critics Choice Award winner for his turn as Roman Roy in HBO’s Succession.
Ellen Wong as Knives Chau
Ellen Wong’s Scott Pilgrim Takes Off character is Knives Chau. Knives is Scott’s 17-year-old ex-girlfriend whom he cheats on with Ramona. She stays friends with the rest of the band but harbors a deep resentment for Scott and his new love, becoming a minor antagonist herself before finding new love in the end. In the comics, she was very obsessed with Scott and this caused her to hate Ramona, and fight her more than once, and also ended up dating Young Neil at one point. There was also a subplot in the comics that never made it into the movie with her father setting out to try to kill Scott for dating his underaged daughter.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was Ellen Wong’s big-screen debut, and there was even an alternate ending to Scott Pilgrim where Knives and Scott ended up together. After playing the live-action version of Knives Chau, Ellen Wong eventually had a lengthy run on the series The Carrie Diaries in 2011 as Jill “Mouse” Chen. In 2021, Wong appeared as Rachel in the indie comedy Best Sellers. She also had a recurring role in the Netflix series GLOW, the Epix series Condor, and the movie The Christmas Setup.
Alison Pill As Kim Pine
Alison Pill plays Kim Pine in the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off cast. Kim, the drummer for Scott’s band, Sex Bob-omb, remains annoyed by almost everyone and everything around her — but mostly Scott. Kim is a lot more important in the comics than in the movie, and this might play out in the Netflix anime series. She was one of Scott’s ex-girlfriends who was secretly still in love with him. However, she resigned herself to the fact that Scott loved Ramona, and she finally had to sit him down and make him accept the bad things he did to past girlfriends so he could move on and prepare to be a better boyfriend for Ramona after he defeated her evil exes.
Reprising her role for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Pill is a Canadian actor who got her start in acting when she was only 10. She ended up making small appearances in independent films and TV series before she played Ella Gerard in 2004’s Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. Played brilliantly in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World by Plaza, Julie Powers is Stacey’s ill-tempered co-worker who has nothing but derision for Scott and his relationship with Ramona. In the comics, she is Stephen’s girlfriend, and she absolutely hates Scott, which is tough because she was also Envy’s ex-roommate and Ramona’s former friend. She also worked with two of Ramona’s evil exes against Scott. Julie also had several themed parties that could provide some fun moments if used in Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
Well-known in New York comedy circles before her big break, Aubrey Plaza first gained attention playing April Ludgate on the sitcom Parks and Recreation. Plaza continued to hone her craft in various indie films like 2014’s Life After Beth before transitioning to more dramatic work. Plaza appeared as part of the cast of White Lotus season 2, and her turn as Harper earned her a Screen Actor’s Guild Award in 2022. She has since taken on roles in the movies Emily the Criminal in 2022 and Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre in 2023.
Mark Webber as Stephen Stills
Mark Webber joins the cast of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off as Stephen Stills. Scott’s best friend and Sex Bob-omb bandmate Stephen Stills is mostly along for the ride as Scott’s pursuit of Ramona takes over his life. Stephen is someone who was really shortchanged in the movie, where he was little more than a side character. In the comics, he has a much larger character arc. He starts off dating Julie Powers in the comics but eventually realizes that he is gay and comes out to his friends when he begins dating Joseph, who was not in the Scott Pilgrim vs. The World movie.
Reprising his role as Stephen for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off, Mark Webber is an actor from Minnesota who started acting in 1989 in mostly independent movies. Mark Webber had a slew of smaller roles before Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, and he continued to work mainly in independent cinema afterward, most notably in the 2015 horror movie Green Room. One of Webber’s more recent roles came in the 2020 action film Clover.
Anna Kendrick As Stacey Pilgrim
Anna Kendrick’s Scott Pilgrim Takes Off character is Stacey Pilgrim. Scott’s younger sister, Stacey Pilgrim, is a part-time barista and a valuable source of information regarding her friend Ramona Flowers. She is also someone who gets all the information she needs about Scott from Wallace but has a funny side story in the comics where she gets frustrated when Wallace steals all her boyfriends. However, unlike many characters in the comics, Stacey mostly disappeared as the story went on and became less important to Scott and his journey.

The actor can also be heard as the voice of the main character Poppy in the film installments of the wildly popular Trolls franchise. Brie Larson As Envy Adams
Brie Larson joins the cast of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off as Envy Adams. Envy Adams is one of Scott’s ex-girlfriends who also happens to be a rock star in the band Clash at Demonhead. She is also someone Scott is obsessed with because she dumped him right before the story started. However, when he finally finds Ramona Flowers, Envy decides to show back up in his life. She also dated one of Ramona’s evil exes Todd and entered into a relationship with Gideon, the main villain of the story. However, Envy finally revealed to Scott that he was to blame for their breakup and helped him prepare for his final battle in his journey.
Larson is a California native who started acting as a child in shows like Raising Dad and Hope & Faith. Larson’s first break came on the ill-fated sitcom Raising Dad in 2001, but her lengthy stint on the hit series United States of Tara in 2009 gained her notoriety. She jumped to Hollywood blockbusters when she landed the role of Molly Tracey in 2012’s 21 Jump Street, and she eventually pivoted her success into an ongoing role as Captain Marvel in the MCU. She also won an Oscar for her lead performance in the 2015 drama Room. In 2023, she added another franchise to her career with a major role in Fast X.
Johnny Simmons as Young Neil
Johnny Simmons’s Scott Pilgrim Takes Off character is Young Neil. A supporting character in the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off‘s cast, Young Neil is a close friend of Scott’s who hangs around with the members of the band Sex Bob-omb. He doesn’t have much more of a character arc in the comics than he did in the movie, where his only real big moment was dating Knives after Scott cheated on her. However, he did get a small chance for a happy ending when he eventually stopped using the word “young” before his name, showing that he was ready to finally step out of Sex Bob-omb’s shadow.
Simmons is an actor from Alabama who got his first movie role in the 2007 comedy Evan Almighty as one of Steve Carrell’s character’s sons. Simmons also previously appeared as Chip in 2009’s Jennifer’s Body and continued his indie success in the 2012 film The Perks of Being a Wallflower. In 2017, Simmons scored a leading role as Shane in the series Girlboss, his last role until he returned for Scott Pilgrim Takes Off.
Jason Schwartzman As Gideon Graves
Jason Schwartzman plays Gideon Graves in the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off cast. Gideon Graves is Ramona Flowers’s final and most powerful evil ex who stands between her and Scott. He is ultimately the “final boss” of the movie. Gideon is the man responsible for everything, as he is who convinced all the other evil exes that Ramona was responsible for all their pain and molded them into the League of Evil Exes to get revenge. However, he had a more sinister plan in the comics to manipulate the minds of everyone on Earth thanks to Ramona’s ability of subspace travel.
Schwartzman is a legacy movie star, the son of Talia Shire and nephew of Francis Ford Coppola. Schwartzman’s first major role came as Max Fischer in the 1998 Wes Anderson film Rushmore, and he continued to star in quirky indie films in the ensuing decades. Schwartzman had a lengthy run on the series Bored to Death and is still a frequent collaborator with Wes Anderson on his films, including the animated Fantastic Mr. Fox. The actor also appeared in a multi-episode arc on the 2022 TV series I Love That For You.
Chris Evans As Lucas Lee
Chris Evans plays Lucas Lee in the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off cast. Lucas Lee is a world-famous professional skater turned action movie star and one of Ramona Flowers’ evil exes. He also happens to be based on Jason Lee, a real-life skateboarder turned actor (Mallrats). Lucas is also the only ex of Ramona who wasn’t recruited by the League of Evil Exes and in the comics was the nicest of the exes, although he was still heartbroken about Ramona dumping him in the past. He was also the nicest to Scott and really didn’t seem to want to fight at all. He also has no superhuman powers.
Evans is a Boston actor who got his start in commercials and modeling gigs, and one of several Scott Pilgrim Takes Off cast members whose career has come on a great deal since 2009’s Scott Pilgrim vs. The World. Prior to playing Lucas Lee he enjoyed a minor breakout for his turn as Jake Wyler in the 2001 parody film Not Another Teen Movie. However, Evans eventually found his true calling as part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe playing the titular comic hero in 2011’s Captain America: The First Avenger. In addition to portraying Captain America on numerous occasions in the MCU, Evans played Lloyd Hansen in Netflix’s The Gray Man, Cole Turner in Ghosted, and will appear in the upcoming movies Red One and Pain Hustlers.
Brandon Routh As Todd Ingram
Brandon Routh joins the cast of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off as Todd Ingram. A member of the band Clash at Demonhead (Envy’s band), Todd Ingram is Ramona’s evil ex who gains his power through his vegan diet. He is one of the more arrogant and narcissistic of the evil exes and not only uses his anger at Ramona dumping him against Scott but also rubs in that he is dating Scott’s ex, Envy (even though he cheats on her all the time). Todd gained his telekinetic powers thanks to his vegan diet and had similar powers to the Super Saiyan power-ups in Dragonball Z.
Routh modeled and acted as a youth and got his first big break by appearing in the Christina Aguilera music video for “What a Girl Wants” before picking up a role in Gilmore Girls and the soap opera One Life to Live. Before his star-making role as the titular Man of Steel in 2006’s Superman Returns, Routh was a longtime regular on the soap opera One Life to Live. The star-vehicle Dylan Dog: Dead of Night failed to launch for Routh in 2011, and he mostly stuck to recurring TV parts throughout the 2010s. Besides reprising his Superman role for The CW’s DC universe, Routh had a recurring part in the third season of The Rookie in 2021.
Mae Whitman as Roxy Richter
Mae Whitman plays Roxy Richter in the Scott Pilgrim Takes Off cast. Roxy is one of Ramona’s evil exes — her only female ex. She was Ramona’s college roommate and is a half-ninja who taught Ramona most of what she knows about subspace travel. While brought into the League of Evil Exes by Gideon, she still likes Ramona, but she hates Scott for not wanting to fight her. It is Roxy’s scathing comments about Scott’s overall slacker attitude and lack of care that helps him develop into the warrior he needs to be to win over Ramona’s love.
Whitman is a California-based actor who started out as a voice actor when she was only two. Her mother, Patt Musick, was also a voice actor. She had a nice career as a voice actor early in life, with roles in Johnny Bravo and Superman: The Animated Series. She also appeared in Chicago Hope and Jag as a child actor. Whitman had a sizable career as a child star in films like 1996’s Independence Day before pivoting to teenage roles in such movies as 2012’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower. In 2023, Whitman landed a main role as Lindsay in the series Up Here. She also voiced the role of Annie in the animated series Skull Island.
Satya Bhabha as Matthew Patel
Satya Bhabha joins the cast of Scott Pilgrim Takes Off as Matthew Patel. Patel is Ramona’s easily vanquished first evil ex who challenges Scott during a Sex Bob-omb concert and introduces him to the threat of the evil exes. He only dated Ramona for one week and they just kissed one time. His superpower is calling Demon Hipster Chicks at will, shooting fireballs, and flying.
Satya Bhabha is an English actor from London whose career has mostly been in television, but Scott Pilgrim vs. The World was one of his first major roles. Bhabha made a mark as the recurring role of Shivrang in New Girl, the recurring role of Jaren in Eastesiders, and the recurring role of Habib in Sense8. More recently, Bhabha directed two episodes of the Gossip Girl reboot. Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is Bhabha’s first acting role since 2018.
