Two & A Half Men: 10 Best Recurring Characters

Two & A Half Men: 10 Best Recurring Characters

Two And A Half Men might have had issues with some of their main characters over the years (Charlie Sheen and Angus T. Jones can be thanked for that) but the hilarious CBS sitcom wasn’t just known for the characters that showed up every week, having numerous amounts of memorable recurring characters.

The comedy lasted for twelve years and over two-hundred episodes (even despite the mishaps with Sheen and Jones) and never ceased to make its audience laugh out loud. But since Charlie, Alan, Jake, and Walden can’t take all the credit, we decided to make a list of the top 10 recurring characters from Two & A Half Men.

Lyndsey

Two & A Half Men: 10 Best Recurring Characters

Lyndsey made her first appearance in season 7 and made it until the end of season 11 as Alan’s girlfriend. However, she lands so far down on our list because the show became incredibly repetitive with her joke scheme.

It was known that Lyndsey was far too hot for Alan and that she was only with him because she had no other options – yet the show had several episodes where she had plenty of other options, but continued to return to Alan and put him down for being such a worthless loser. Her character was funny, it just didn’t make sense.

Gordon

It’s everybody’s favorite pizza-delivery boy! Gordon was a great addition to the Two & A Half Men cast playing the character of Rose’s boyfriend and was a quiet riot anytime he appeared on the screen. The pizza delivery boy went through quite an arc as he started off the show as a delivery driver for a pizza restaurant, landed a job as a stockbroker, met a beautiful woman and got married, lost his job, got divorced, and circled right back around to delivering pizzas to Mr. Harper.

Rose may have just been using him to get to Charlie, but we’re glad that she brought him around for as long as she did.

Judith

Let’s be fair – Judith was never accused of being anybody’s favorite character. The mother, ex-wife, and former sister-in-law to the titular characters was never the funniest or wittiest person in the room and always found herself playing the part of the bad guy.

She hardly has any memorable one-liners from the show and never ceases to give Alan a hard time for things that are mostly hers or Charlie’s fault. However, she doesn’t rank dead-last on our list because her constant bombardment of Alan’s testicles leads to his family members giving him even more hilarious insults, resulting in some of the funniest quotes of the series.

Russell

Russell, the pharmacist who frequently helped Charlie anytime he had some sort of drug or medical-related problem was a constant source of comedy due to his look-the-other-way mentality when it came to whatever he was prescribing.

A known seller, and taker, of multiple illegal drugs, Russell’s running joke was to try and sell Charlie a type of illegal substance he didn’t need in order to ail a problem or sickness. When Charlie would question the legality of the transaction, Russell would respond with his catchphrase, “What are you, a cop?”

Dr. Linda Freeman

Did you forget that Jane Lynch was a frequent recurring character on Two & A Half Men? Did you also forget that she was one of the funniest? Playing the character of Dr. Linda Freeman, Lynch was one of the few characters on the show who could dish it out just as quick as Charlie and could momentarily humble his inflated ego.

The psychiatrist arrived on the show whenever Charlie was having some sort of moral dilemma and always managed to get a few jokes in before ultimately showing him the error of his ways and leading him down the right path (whether Charlie took said path was out of her control, but we digress).

Evelyn

It’s basically a requirement that all main characters on sitcoms have mothers who are wretched and despicable. Two & A Half Men was no exception as Charlie and Alan had one of the worst mothers on the planet.

While her two sons weren’t exactly prizes, Evelyn didn’t do them any favors by always implying that the fault was all their own and that she was a terrific mother who always did the best for her children. While that might be every horrible mother’s excuse (and it’s always B.S.), it didn’t stop Evelyn from having some of the funniest lines and subplots of the series as she was always picking pointless fights with her boys.

Herb

With Alan out of the way, it was only natural that his ex-wife would find somebody else to bond in holy matrimony with, and she couldn’t have chosen better. Herb was the comedic-relief character that nobody knew this show needed, starting in a quieter and laid back role.

But once it became clear that Herb was going to stick around, the show decided to step up the hilarity and gave Judith’s new husband some of the most comedic lines and episodes of the series. Not to mention, he’s one of the only recurring characters who made it to the final season.

Kandi

The biggest mistake that Two & A Half Men ever made was letting Kandi’s character fade away. The dimwitted, second-wife to Alan made her first appearance in season 3 and became a major recurring character for the entirety of the season, starting as one of Charlie’s many suitors and eventually marrying his brother by the end of it.

However, the season four premiere started with Alan and Kandi getting divorced and she only made occasional appearances afterward. We don’t know why they didn’t decide to keep Kandi around for longer, but we wish they had.

Rose

She may have been a crazy stalker, but she was a hilarious, crazy stalker. Rose was a recurring character that actually made it from the very first episode of the series until the very last and did so in a very less-than-traditional way.

While she was undoubtedly nuts, Rose was also a genius in her own right and knew how to play the long game when it came to getting the man of her dreams. That long game might have resulted in tricking Charlie into marrying her, faking his death, and keeping him captive in a well for four seasons, but people do crazy things for love (or love makes people crazy).

Berta

There haven’t been many recurring characters on sitcoms that were funnier than Charlie’s housekeeper, Berta (don’t you dare call her a maid, she’ll snap you in two). The brutish, no-nonsense straight-talker made it clear that even if Charlie was her boss, she was the one who made the rules in his house.

Everybody was rightfully terrified of her as she was prone to use violence when agitated, but she was also one of the most clever characters on the show and never missed an opportunity to take a jab at anyone who was within hearing range.
