Turn Your Amazon Echo Dot Into Baby Yoda With Mandalorian’s Weirdest Merch

Viewers still obsessing over the cutest character in The Mandalorian will be delighted to know they’ll soon be able to turn their Echo Dot into Baby Yoda. This new, strange device is just one of the many pieces of Baby Yoda-themed merchandise brought to shelves after the release of Disney+’s hit Star Wars series. The Mandalorian has been praised for its excellent direction and unique take on the Star Wars story. However, by far the greatest standout of the series for fans online was the character called “The Child.”

This tiny green critter with big ears earned the affectionate nickname “Baby Yoda” online and became a huge meme in late 2019. Disney was somewhat surprised by the intense popularity of the character. However, the company was quick to jump on the trend and create an impressive amount of Baby Yoda merchandise in a relatively short amount of time.

Now, a recent posting on Amazon reveals a new product that The Mandalorian fans can now purchase to show their love for The Child: an Echo Dot case designed to make your little Alexa look just like Baby Yoda. The case, designed by the phone case company Otter Box, is essentially just a durable plastic stand with some bright green ears emerging from the sides. While certainly entertaining, the stand is missing the beloved creature’s signature buggy eyes, making it hard to tell whether this case represents Baby Yoda or just regular Yoda. The new item is available for pre-order now but won’t be released until August 20.

Strangely enough, this isn’t the first unusual bit of Baby Yoda merchandise to make its way online. Just last month, Hasbro released a Mandalorian-themed edition of their Bop It! game designed to look like The Child. As cute as this new toy was, it had the unfortunate side effect of requiring players to punch Baby Yoda on the head in order to win. There’s also a new type of Baby Yoda shaped cereal now available, in yet another weird addition to the The Mandalorian merchandise line.

With all these unusual Baby Yoda toys and gadgets, one may wonder if Disney is running out of ideas for how to capitalize on one of their most profitable characters. It does make sense the minds behind Disney+ are still trying to make money off of a show from several months ago, given that the platform hasn’t had another blockbuster release outside of Hamilton. Since it will still be a while until viewers see any new The Mandalorian content, it’s likely Disney will keep releasing Baby Yoda merchandise until fans finally tire of the beloved character.
