Tunic: How to Unlock Teleport Dash

Tunic: How to Unlock Teleport Dash

<

The Cathedral combat challenge needs to be completed to unlock the teleport dash ability in Tunic. There are six waves of enemies to defeat and each one needs to be activated by interacting with the appropriate pedestal at the bottom of the Cathedral. In order to reach the Cathedral, players will need to attempt to fight The Heir, become a ghost, and traverse The Swamp. Once inside the Cathedral, players will need to defeat some shadow foxes that mimic the hero’s movements and attacks.

At the center of the Cathedral, there’s a room with a save point and a platform behind it that needs to be activated. There are a few pillars in this area of Tunic to activate, then players can pray on the central platform to lower it. There’s another save point just before the ladder that leads down into the combat challenge. In the arena, players will see pedestals for various enemies including Fairies, Garden Knights, Lizards, Rudelings, Mages, and Skeletons. There’s also a heart pedestal that can be used to heal during the trial.

After all six rounds are completed, the Hero’s Laurels and the ability to teleport dash in Tunic will be unlocked. The Hero’s Laurels is a permanent item that will replace the dodge roll.

Preparing To Get Tunic’s Teleport Dash

Tunic: How to Unlock Teleport Dash

To complete the combat challenge and unlock the teleport dash in Tunic, players will need to defeat all six rounds of enemies without dying. Players should stock up on explosives and have their sword and magic staff equipped. There’s a hidden shop along the path to the right of the save point before the arena, so players can stock up on supplies if necessary. Ability cards that affect health or attack stats in Tunic should also be equipped before entering the arena. The combat challenge can be difficult, but there are a few strategies that can be used to make it a little easier.

It can be tempting to use weapons in Tunic like the shotgun, hourglass, or magic dagger for larger groups of enemies throughout the combat trial, but players should save their magic points for the Fairy round. The magic staff will one-shot Fairies and can be fired rapidly while holding down the targeting button to automatically switch after killing one. There are a lot of Fairies that spawn in quickly all around the outside of the arena, and landing melee hits can be very difficult with these flying enemies.

It can also be overwhelming to try to dodge while all of them are firing at once, so using the magic staff to quickly eliminate them is the best method for winning the round. Players can also use some of Tunic‘s ability cards to restore magic points, like the Inverted Ash card which changes health potions to magic restoration potions. However, it’s not necessary to complete the trials, and players will likely find health potions to be more valuable.

Corner The Second Garden Knight

The center pedestal in the Cathedral challenge is a wave of Garden Knight enemies similar to the boss fought in the West Garden. There are only two of these enemies to defeat, and the second one takes a while to spawn, but the pair can be difficult to beat. Luckily, there’s a trick for beating the second one without taking any damage. As soon as the first Garden Knight spawns in, focus on dodging while still hitting it with melee attacks as often as possible. Defeating the first one before the second one spawns will allow players to corner the next one.

After taking out the first Garden Knight boss in Tunic‘s combat challenge, players can quickly run to the pedestal where the statue was and wait for the second enemy. Standing on either the right or left side of the Garden Knight and slashing at it with the sword nonstop will push it up against the edge of the arena. If executed correctly, the Garden Knight won’t have time to perform an attack in between the fox’s sword strikes because it won’t be getting knocked back.

This is the easiest way to complete the Garden Knight pedestal when trying to unlock Tunic’s teleport dash ability, but players can also just take out the second one the same way they did the first one.

Use Bombs For The Skeletons

The Skeleton round in Tunic’s Cathedral combat trial can be difficult because it has the most enemies. Skeletons will continue to spawn until a large group amasses with one larger Skeleton being the last enemy in the wave. One of the quickest ways to defeat the Skeletons is to wait until the large one spawns, then start throwing explosive weapons in Tunic, like bombs, to take multiple enemies out at once.

The Skeletons move slow, so it should be fairly easy to run away then quickly turn and throw a bomb or firecracker. Running in a circle around the edge of the arena will create the most distance between the fox and the Skeleton army.

Use Potions Before The Heart Pedestal

The pedestal all the way to the right in Tunic‘s combat challenge is a heart and will recover the fox’s health. However, this pedestal will also refill all the fox’s available potions, so saving it as a last resort is recommended. To get as many healing options as possible, players should go through their entire set of potions, then activate the heart pedestal in between combat rounds. Luckily, potion slots aren’t altered by the fox’s ghostly state, so if players have collected any additional potion bottles or fragments, they’ll have a better chance of completing the trials.

Best Order For Getting Tunic’s Dash Ability

Starting with the Fairies gives players a challenging fight to get out of the way early, and using the fire staff in Tunic will be players’ best bet. Next, players should fight the Mages, which are to the left of the Garden Knight statue. The Mages all aim for the same spot, so their area of effect attacks should be easily dodged, then they will have a small cooldown window when they can be attacked before they teleport away.

There are only five Mages, so the round should be over quickly. Next, players can tackle either the Skeletons or Garden Knights. The Lizards and Rudelings should be saved until the end, because they’re the easiest challenges and players can use the last of their resources to finish the trials without worrying about conserving their supplies. Players will only unlock the teleport dash in Tunic once all enemies have been defeated.
