Trunks & Goten Just Upgraded Goku’s Deadliest Dragon Ball Attack

Warning! This article contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Super chapter 90Out of all the incredibly deadly attacks Goku has in his arsenal, one of them stands out as the all-time deadliest (for one specific reason), and Trunks and Goten just upgraded it in the latest chapter of Dragon Ball Super.

Since the early days of Dragon Ball, Goku has implemented one particular move in battle, and more often than not, it has resulted in the deaths of his enemies: ramming them with his head and/or fist, and flying through their torso. Goku did this to both General Black of the Red Ribbon Army and King Piccolo, and then in Dragon Ball Z, he passed this move down to his eldest son, Gohan. After Gohan was kidnaped by Raditz, he escaped from the space pod his uncle had him in and rammed Raditz right in the chest with the top of his head–weakening Raditz enough for Goku and Piccolo to get the upper hand and kill him. Skip ahead to Dragon Ball GT and Goku reclaims this attack when fighting Super 17, flying through his chest fist-first, killing him almost exactly like he killed General Black and King Piccolo. With every power-up and transformation, this method of attack gets increasingly more powerful–and now, that trend continues with Trunks and Goten.

Trunks & Goten Use Goku’s Deadly Attack Together, Making It Stronger

Trunks & Goten Just Upgraded Goku’s Deadliest Dragon Ball Attack

In Dragon Ball Super chapter 90 by Akira Toriyama and Toyotarou, Trunks and Goten–who, at this point in the series, have become the superhero crime-fighting duo Saiyaman X-1 and Saiyaman X-2–are closing in on Dr. Hedo, the mastermind behind reanimating corpses and turning them into Androids without their families’ permission. After the two Saiyamen track him to his secret base, Dr. Hedo unleashes another Android that is far more powerful than anything fans have seen before (at least, in terms of what was created by him): the Dino Android. This undead, supercharged dino is able to take all the punches and ki blasts Trunks and Goten can throw at it, but one thing Dino Android couldn’t take was the Saiyamen’s new technique called “Cyclone Style! Tornado Double Hurricane!!”.

When Goku used his head/fist-first technique against King Piccolo, it became known as “Penetrate”, and then when he upgraded that attack while going up against Super 17 in GT, it transformed into “Dragon Fist”. Now, Trunks and Goten have upgraded this attack-method even more with “Cyclone Style! Tornado Double Hurricane!!”, and the reason is simple: there are two of them. When Trunks and Goten initiated the attack, the two of them simultaneously shot themselves at the Dino Android at full speed, and flew right through the villain with all the power they had in their bodies. This scene was seemingly ripped straight from Goku’s fights with both King Piccolo and Super 17 while being reminiscent of the move passed down to Gohan so many years earlier, too–though it packed a bit more of a punch as the Dino Android was totally ripped apart following the attack unlike the other villains Goku used it against. What’s more interesting, though, is that this move wasn’t just a callback to older Dragon Ball stories, but it actually makes sense that it exists within Trunks and Goten’s arsenal–because it isn’t their first time doing it.

Back in Dragon Ball Z, during the Majin Buu Saga, Trunks and Goten fused to become Gotenks, and while as this amalgam-fighter, they used this ‘head-first’ method against Majin Buu–and it actually knocked the wind out of him for a moment. The fact that this move was refined, renamed, and mastered at this point in Dragon Ball Super means Trunks and Goten remembered using Goku’s deadly attack before, and decided to give it a massive upgrade, as shown in this brand-new chapter.
