What to Expect From Transformers: Rise of the Beasts

Transformers: Rise Of The Beasts Posters – Detailed Looks At New & Returning Characters

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set to revitalize a franchise which has seen declining returns with its last two entries – Transformers: The Last Knight and Bumblebee. With a story from Obi-Wan Kenobi‘s Joby Harold, the upcoming film taps the popular Beast Wars storyline to give the franchise the boost it needs. Along with next year’s follow-up Transformers One, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts expands the cinematic series by exploring events that took place before Sam Witwicky’s (Shia LeBeouf) fateful meeting with Bumblebee.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set to properly introduce the long-awaited massive villain Unicron, portrayed by Fear the Walking Dead‘s Colman Domingo. Able to transform into a giant planet, the ancient enemy was included in Transformers: The Last Knight with the six horns of Unicron appearing from within the Earth. As a prequel, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will likely address the lore surrounding Unicron and Earth’s origins.

Although the new Transformers film faces strong competition at the box office against the likes of Spider-Man: Across the Spiderverse and The Flash, Transformers: Rise of the Beasts may find success with audiences looking for reprieve from superhero fatigue. However, with the hype surrounding both the Marvel and DCU entries are at an all-time high, it is unlikely the seventh live-action Transformers film will make a significant dent in their receipts. Audiences can get a good look at Maximals and Terrorcons in action when Transformers: Rise of the Beasts charges into theaters June 9.
