Transformers: Everything We Know About War For Cybertron’s Kingdom

Transformers: Kingdom promises to return the Autobots and Decepticons to the era of Beast Wars as the War For Cybertron trilogy reaches its conclusion. The events of Transformers: Earthrise saw Optimus and his band of Autobots attempting to make their way to the location of the Allspark, the mystical entity that grants the Cybertronians’ life. With Megatron in hot pursuit and plenty of obstacles in their way, the Autobots manage to finally make their way to what appears to be Earth, but not Earth of the present – this would appear to be the prehistoric era, before humanity replaced the dinosaurs. However, the last second reveal of a robotic velociraptor suggests things are perhaps not what they seem.

The final chapter of the War for Cybertron, Transformers: Kingdom promises to offer some sort of closure in the search for the Allspark, as well as for the guerrilla war being fought by the Autobots left behind on Cybertron, led by Elita-1. It also promises to revisit Beast Wars, one of the most beloved iterations in the franchise’s history.

So when can fans expect to see Transformers: Kingdom? And how much of the story will be influenced by Beast Wars? The following is everything publicly known about Transformers: Kingdom.

Transformers: War For Cybertron – Kingdom Release Date

Transformers: Everything We Know About War For Cybertron’s Kingdom

There’s still no official release date for Transformers: Kingdom. The first installment in the trilogy, Transformers: Siege, dropped on Netflix in July of 2020 after a long production process; curiously, the Siege toys were long gone from toy shelves by the time the series debuted, replaced by the toy line for the second installment, Earthrise. That second installment in the animated series debuted exactly five months later in December 2020. There’s been no confirmation of Kingdom’s release, but if the production pattern holds – a big “if” in the age of a pandemic – Kingdom would debut sometime in the spring of 2021.

Transformers: War For Cybertron – Kingdom Story Details

Transformers Beast Wars

As is apparent from the toy line and promotion materials, Transformers: Kingdom will revisit the era of Beast Wars, but with a twist. The original Beast Wars was a complicated time travel story. It centered on the Maximals and Predacons, the descendants of the Autobots and Decepticons, respectively; the Autobots won the war centuries earlier, with the Maximals now ruling Cybertron with the Predacons as essentially second class citizens. A rogue Predacon who dubs himself the new Megatron manages to time travel to prehistoric Earth in an attempt to change the events of the great Autobot/Decepticon war with an artifact known as the Golden Disk, only to be thwarted by a small group of Maximal explorers led by Optimus Primal.

Kingdom will see the Autobots and Decepticons meet their successors on prehistoric Earth, though how the timeline fits together and what Megatron’s ultimate goal will be this time remains to be seen. That said, Transformers: Kingdom promises action, time travel intrigue, and a final confrontation between Optimus Prime and Megatron.
