Transformers: Rise of the Beasts creates the perfect setup for Transformers 8 to repeat Unicron’s 37-year-old storyline and introduce the Decepticons. The Decepticons remained the primary antagonists in Michael Bay’s Transformers movies. However, in the live-action Transformers reboot films, Bumblebee and Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, the Decepticons have barely had any screen presence, let alone face-offs with the Autobots. Fortunately, Transformers: Rise of the Beats has not only paved the way for their introduction in Transformers 8 but has also set the stage for Unicron’s return.

Given how the Autobots overpowered Unicron’s heralds towards the end of Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Transformers 8 now has the perfect opportunity to repeat The Transformers: The Movie‘s storyline. After losing his battle against the Autobots in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Unicron likely wants revenge from the Cybertronians.
Since the Autobots accept Earth as their new home in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts‘ closing arc by destroying the Transwarp Key, Transformers 8 can show how Unicron will set out to devour the Autobots’ new home planet, just like his 1986 movie counterpart. Consuming Earth would also make sense for Unicron in the live-action movie franchise because Transformers: Rise of the Beasts confirmed that it has Energon ores. Since Energon serves as fuel for Cybertronians, consuming Earth would make Unicron more powerful, giving him a solid reason to destroy the Autobots and devour Earth.
Unicron’s Transformers 8 Return Would Be The Ideal Setup For Introducing Decepticons
Transformers 8 can also use this 1986 Unicron setup to introduce the Decepticons. Just like Unicron transfigures Megatron into an enslaved Galvatron in 1986’s The Transformers: The Movie and forces him and his team of Decepticons attack the Autobots, Unicron in the live-action movies could create a new herald of Decepticons in Transformers 8 and send them to Earth to duke it out with the Autobots. With these potential plot developments, Transformers 8 could not only introduce the Decepticons and give Unicron a new purpose but could also showcase the actual of scale of Unicron’s god-like powers, which were left unexplored in Transformers: Rise of the Beasts.
