We learn not only what happened to her since the beginning of Toy Story 3, but we also see how much she’s grown as a person (or toy) since her last appearance. She’s Based On A Nursery Rhyme

Toy Story: 10 Facts Everyone Should Know About Bo Peep

Many of the toys in Toy Story are based on things that exist in real life. Barbie and the Potato Heads are based on their respective toy lines, and Zurg is based on Darth Vader. This isn’t an exception for Bo Peep, who comes from the nursery rhyme “Little Bo-Peep”.

The nursery rhyme is generally about Little Bo-Peep losing her sleep, but they eventually found their way back to her. The Bo Peeps are different from one another in many ways, but they also have some similarities.

Her Companions Are Billy, Goat, & Gruff

Like in the nursery rhyme, Bo Peep in the Toy Story franchise is accompanied by sheep. But what’s different about her sheep in this version is that they’re conjoined together. Another difference is their names are Billy, Goat, and Gruff.

The sheep share being based off of something with Bo Peep. Their names Billy, Goat, and Gruff come from the fairy tale “Three Billy Goats Gruff”. No matter where they come from, if Bo Peep’s there, they’ll always stay by her side in the end.

She’s Part Of A Lamp

In the Toy Story universe, Andy has always been one of the most imaginative characters. He never played with Woody as Woody or Potato Head as Potato Head. He invented unique characters and scenarios every time he played with the toys.

So it’s no surprise that some of the toys he played with weren’t even toys at all. Bo Peep was originally part of a lamp and wasn’t supposed to be played with at all. Bo Peep’s inclusion in Andy’s gang shows that anything can be a toy with the right amount of imagination.

She Belonged To Molly

Bo Peep was often included in playtime along with Andy’s toys, but she actually wasn’t one of Andy’s toys. The lamp she and her sheep belonged to was always in Molly’s room.

Many people are afraid of the dark, which is especially true for babies. To help alleviate the fear, Molly was given the lamp to help her sleep at night. Whether as a toy or as a lamp, it’s clear that Bo Peep enjoys helping people.

She’s Buzz’s Moving Buddy

In the original Toy Story film, Andy is moving into a new house. To keep track of each other, the toys all pair up with one another. When Buzz arrives in Andy’s room and shows off his flying skills, Bo Peep declares that she’s found her moving buddy.

This is brought back in Toy Story 4 when Buzz and Bo Peep meet each other again. When they first see each other, she hugs him and exclaims, “Buzz! My old moving buddy!”. Bo Peep and Buzz still having their Moving Buddies connection shows just how strong their friendship is.

She Would’ve Died In Toy Story 3

While watching Toy Story 3, many fans were sad about Bo Peep’s absence. She was the favorite character of numerous people, so it was understandable to be upset over it. However, it might be for the best that she was omitted from the film.

Near the end of the film, the toys are trapped in an incinerator and awaiting falling into a pit of fire. If Bo Peep had been with them, she wouldn’t have even made it that far. Because she’s made of porcelain, the incinerator would’ve gotten to her quickly due to how hot it was. Fortunately, Bo Peep wasn’t there, and she got to live to play another day.

She Has A Partner In Crime

Aside from her sheep, Bo Peep has another partner in the form of a tiny, adorable police officer. Giggle McDimples is played by Ally Maki, who has been in shows like That’s So Raven and Cloak and Dagger.

Giggle McDimples first meets Bo Peep inside the antique shop seen in Toy Story 4. She helps her escape, and the two have been together ever since. Of the many new characters introduced in Toy Story 4, Giggle is certainly one of the standouts.

She’s Played By Annie Potts

Some appearances of Bo Peep have her with a different actress. In the video game Toy Story Racer, she is voiced by Rebecca Wink, who has acted in Lilo and Stitch: The Series and The Lego Movie videogame. But for the most part, Bo Peep is played by Annie Potts.

Potts has acted in Grey’s AnatomyThe Fosters, and every Ghostbusters film, including Ghostbusters: Afterlife. With over forty years of acting, it’s safe to say that Bo Peep is played by a very talented actress.

She Has Her Own Short Film

Aside from Forky, Bo Peep is so far the only character to have a short dedicated to her air exclusively on Disney Plus. Lamp Life answers what Bo Peep and her sheep have been up to since the beginning of Toy Story 4, where we see them being taken away.

Lamp Life is also special because it’s on the longer side of Pixar shorts. Most of them run between five to seven minutes, but Lamp Life is eleven minutes long. The short serves as a special treat for anyone looking for more Bo Peep after Toy Story 4.

Her Dress Is Her Cape

In Toy Story 4, Bo Peep gets a significant redesign from the previous films. Not only have the technological advancements from the first film to the fourth upgraded her design, she doesn’t have her bonnet. She’s also wearing a new cape, which comes from her old dress.

It’s not easy to tell at first since the cape mostly appears to be violet from the outside. But on the inside, you can see that the cape has a white background with pink polka dots. This is also the design of the dress she used to wear while still part of the lamp.
