Top 10 Aquarius Antagonists in TV Shows

Top 10 Aquarius Antagonists in TV Shows

The Aquarius in the Zodiac is often the sign of people who are passionate about bringing everyone together. As the most progressive and intelligent sign, they love to learn and explore, discover new things about life in any opportunity they can. They love an intellectual conversation and they love learning and being around like-minded people.

In TV, Aquarian characters stand out because they often prefer a battle of wits over strength and usually win with using strategy and winning with numbers.  This is why when we see an Aquarius villain, it’s often very challenging for those who oppose them. Here are the top 10 tv antagonists who have Aquarius characteristics.

The Thinker – The Flash (2014-)

Top 10 Aquarius Antagonists in TV Shows

As the first non-speedster big bad on The Flash, The Thinker had to use different methods rather than take on the scarlet speedster head-on. Even before he became a villain, Clifford Devoe loved an intellectual challenge and he had progressive views and strong opinions on technology.

He’s a forward thinker, he never uses violence to get what he wants and plans the Flash’s downfall carefully and diligently. In true Aquarius fashion, he isolates himself and literally builds his layer in another dimension.

Michael – The Good Place (2016-2020)

Although he hasn’t always been evil, Michael started off as an antagonist and even his willingness to turn makes him a true antagonist. As an architect and guide in The Good Place, he reveals he’s a demon and that he had an elaborate plan the whole time to torture our main characters.

He shows he’s a true Aquarius by showing empathy and actually trying the human experience and his sneaky and intellectual ways also make him one.

Edward Nygma – Gotham (2014-2019)

Edward Nygma - Things We Want to See in Gotham Season 2

As all Batman fans know, Edward Nygma eventually becomes one of the Dark Knight’s most prevalent foes. Watching an early iteration of The Riddler only confirm that he’s a true Aquarius due to his introverted yet eccentric nature. Once he gets comfortable with himself and he embraces who he is, he looks to stand out and use his ego and wits to terrorize the city of Gotham.

He knows he can’t take on people one on one so he hides in the shadows and flexes his brain to wreak havoc. All he needed was an awakening to reach his potential as one of the smartest villains in Batman’s rogue gallery.

Benjamin Linus – Lost (2004-2010)

Since his introduction to the show, he never really followed any rules or never really did anything for anyone other than himself. He regularly manipulated people and cheered on his own achievements, often lashing out at those who tried to confine him.

He’s smart, arrogant, and he’s a bit of a loner when it comes to people who don’t see eye to eye with him. Linus was never an intimidating person but he was quite dangerous and not someone you’d want to mess with.

Norman Bates – Bates Motel (2013-2017)

Freddie Highmore in Norman Bates in Bates Motel

In true Aquarius fashion, Norman Bates is shy and reserved, but once he gained confidence, he spread his wings and unfortunately became the killer we all knew he was. He is so good at hiding how he is and his violent tendencies that no one even thinks of him as a murderer.

He may be a little violent and psychotic but he’s loyal to the ones he loves, even if it’s a weird attraction to your own mother, but he is still nonetheless a good son who loves his mom.

Gus Fring – Breaking Bad (2008-2013)

Gus Fring's death scene in Breaking Bad

Looking at Gus, he does not seem like a successful druglord, especially due to his quiet and humble nature and friendly demeanor when serving guests at his restaurant. Deep down, Gus is a maniac, he’s unstable and very possibly psychotic, well worth of being the big bad.

He’s paranoid and very cautious, he works in the shadows and is poised and professional, but he’s not afraid to get his hands dirty. Despite all that, he has been shown to care for people, showing his progressive nature.

Gemma Teller – Sons Of Anarchy (2008-2014)

Gemma returns back home after going into hiding in Sons Of Anarchy

It may be hard to think about someone like Gemma instilling fear and practically running a biker gang, but that is exactly what she is. She’s calm and collected, she rarely lets you know what she’s thinking and she’s only passionate about three things, her late husband’s legacy, her current husband’s power, and the legacy she’s leaving behind.

Like most of the villains on this list, Gemma is not going to beat you with her brawn, but she will destroy you with her planning, her dedicated followers, and her unwillingness to give up. She may not be the best mother but she is still loyal to her family and her husband.

Professor Doofenschmirtz – Phineas & Ferb (2007-2015)

He’s evil, he’s an inventor, and he’s got thousands of minions who follow him and do his will…And who’s gonna stop him? Perry the Platypus. As an evil villain, Doof’s only goal in life is to take over the world and show everyone he’s not just some crackpot.

He had a tough childhood and therefore isolates himself and throws himself into his work, which can make for a lonely life. He’s extremely committed to his daughter despite her not sharing the same feelings. He may not be as intimidating as some of the villains on the list but he is nevertheless a true Aquarius.

Mags Bennett – Justified (2010-2015)

Mags Bennett in her store in Justified.

At first glance, she looks like a sweet old lady, who would welcome you with a warm smile, but she is almost the complete opposite. After taking over her husband’s drug empire, she becomes a cold-blooded killer and master planner, working as a drug lord in plain sight.

Like a true Aquarius, she hates conforming, she wants to do things on her terms, even in her dying breath, she managed to control her destiny and become a formidable foe, even if it was only one season.

Damien Dahrk – Arrowverse

Legends of Tomorrow Season 2 Premiere Damien Dahrk

A majority of villains Oliver has had to face in Arrow is almost always a foe that matches his fighting skills. For Damien Dahrk, it was his manipulation and his secret organization that almost bring Oliver and company down. Like many of the villains on this list, Damien sees the big picture and although he doesn’t necessarily have issues with Oliver, he goes after him to prevent him from foiling his plans.

His arrogance is always present, wearing a smug look and taking pride in outsmarting the Green Arrow.
