Too Hot to Handle: David Shatters Stereotype That ‘Manly’ Men Shouldn’t Cry

Too Hot To Handle‘s David Birtwistle is not ashamed that he cried. The Londoner with a six-pack revealed his feelings behind his tears and ended up turning out to be the most sensitive guy in the house.

All over and throughout different cultures, men have found it hard to show the softer side of when they are looking to release their emotions. Many have been taught that you keep your head down and keep going. A display of emotion can only be shown during a sporting event or some other manly activity. With Too Hot To Handle producers telling the contestants that sex was not permitted, the men were bound to have pent up feelings waiting to explode.

Nutrition and fitness coach David melted hearts fast when he walked onto the sand as he strutted his perfect physique as well as claiming he went to bars with no shirt. While at first glance, fans may have judged this book by his cover, he happily peeled away the layers to bare his soul as he journeyed to becoming a better dater. Screen Rant sat down with the Netflix personality to get to the bottom of some burning questions.

Despite being a bit out of his comfort zone, David expressed gratitude for being able to feel it was a safe place to share his emotions, saying,

“I just stopped seeing her as a person but started to see her as a complete soul, showing all these different parts of who she was and they all started to piece together. It made so much sense that I just had this overwhelming feeling of compassion for her and understanding for her. It allowed me to see her in so much more depth. That was such a beautiful moment.”

As for crying during the intense workshops, David revealed,

It is a sad thing that guys do not feel like they can cry because that is not a manly thing to do, but I don’t really care about that.  Hopefully, me crying in that workshop will make other men feel its okay to show more emotion too.  We should feel comfortable expressing them.”

David’s sincerity really drove the point home that it is important for everyone, man or woman, to be able to safely exude their emotions freely. The reality star’s humor and caring nature really let us dive into the complexities of a young man trying to connect with women on a higher level.
