Tom Welling’s Older Superman Is Joined By Batman In The Justice League In Stunning Smallville Art

Warning! This article contains spoilers about the Smallville Season 11 comics.

A DC fan shows what Smallville‘s Justice League would look like a few years after the show ended, with Tom Welling’s Superman being joined by none other than Batman. Smallville follows Tom Welling’s Clark Kent from the moment he lands on Earth to the moment he first wears the Superman suit, with feats like founding the Justice League and fighting Doomsday in between. Although Smallville‘s Clark Kent befriends Justice League icons such as the Flash, Green Arrow, and Aquaman in Smallville, he never meets his Justice League co-leader, Batman.

Smallville fan buffy2ville imagines what some of the show’s cast would look like in a futuristic setting. Superman, Supergirl, Zatanna, Green Arrow, and Batman seem to make up the Justice League at this point, and Lex Luthor is finally wearing his famous green armor. See the images below:

What Happened To Smallville’s Justice League After The Show Ended

Batman Didn’t Join The Justice League Until The Smallville Season 11 Comics

In 2011, Smallville officially ended with its season 10 finale, but the series carried on in digital comic book format with Smallville Season 11, which took up where Smallville‘s ending left off. In the comics, Tom Welling’s Clark Kent is active as Superman, and most of the other Smallville metahumans have become world-class superheroes. Superman and Green Arrow meet the Gotham vigilantes Batman and Nightwing, with whom they fight supervillain Mr. Freeze after a brief battle among themselves. Oliver stays by Superman’s side throughout season 11, and he becomes one of the main members of the Justice League.

As Clark Kent gains experience as Superman, he faces more and more challenging conflicts. For instance, Superman fights Black Flash and witnesses Bart Allen’s death shortly after taking up the Impulse moniker. Superman travels to the 31st century with Booster Gold and rescues Supergirl, though she decides to stay in the future for a while. Superman’s time travel results in Bart coming back to life, but without knowledge of the Speed Force. In Bart’s absence, Superman befriends Smallville‘s previously-referenced Wonder Woman and helps her fight the Greek god Hades.

Once the powerful Monitor threatens to bring the Crisis to Smallville‘s universe, Superman gathers most of the Justice League members, old and new — except for Aquaman, Cyborg, and Black Canary. Martian Manhunter, Zatanna, and Tess Mercer — now the Red Tornado — reunite with Clark Kent, who has officially recruited Batman, Wonder Woman, and the Green Lantern John Stewart. Together they send the Monitor to the Phantom Zone and vow to assemble if the world needs them again.
