Tom Holland’s Peter Parker As Hawkeye Spotted In Marvel’s What If TV Show Trailer

Marvel’s upcoming What If…? series looks like it’ll feature Tom Holland’s Spider-Man as Hawkeye. Officially set for summer 2021, What If…? will be one of the many Marvel shows headed to Disney+. However, this will be different from all the others both because it is animated and each episode will focus on a new hypothetical scenario within the MCU. This premise is based on a Marvel Comics run that did the same thing by exploring different one-off situations. For example, the first episode of What If…? will imagine what would’ve happened if Peggy Carter took the super soldier serum instead of Steve Rogers and became Captain Britain.

What If…? is expected to consider scenarios for all twenty-three MCU movies so far, meaning everything up to Spider-Man: Far From Home. Additionally, the series sparked excitement among fans at San Diego Comic-Con last year when Marvel head Kevin Feige announced the live-action actors would return to voice their respective characters. The list is lengthy, but features notable names like Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jeremy Renner.

A handful of images from What If…? have been unveiled so far, mainly through a teaser trailer for the series. That trailer is what has caused a new debate among fans, because at a certain moment, it looks like Holland’s Spider-Man is visible (via Brandon Davis). What’s truly interesting about the image is that he’s got a quiver of arrows at his back, making it look even more like Hawkeye. You can see the image for yourself down below.

It should be noted that Holland wasn’t included in the initial cast list for What If…?, though that might not mean anything. A version of Steve Rogers is already confirmed to appear in the show, but Chris Evans has yet to officially join the cast. Granted, Steve could end up being recast for What If…?; it’s hard to say right now. There is also a chance the image isn’t of Peter Parker at all, though the resemblance certainly is there.

Most Marvel Disney+ shows have seen their productions shut down because of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, but What If…? has continued on as normal. This means it’s still on track to hit its planned release date, which might come as a relief to those who were disappointed by the various release date changes that hit the MCU’s Phase 4. So far, What If…? seems like a genuinely interesting project that can explore some fascinating scenarios. Could one of them be Peter Parker as Hawkeye? Only time will tell.
